National Honor Society Induction Ceremony - Harold P. Griffith Chapter - Moline High School

The Harold P. Griffith Chapter of the Moline High School National Honor Society
Induction took place on Friday, April 4th at 7:00 p.m. in the Bartlett Performing Arts
Center at Moline High School. It was the 78th induction for Moline High School.
Eighty-three juniors and fifteen first year seniors were inducted during the ceremony.
Eighty-seven senior members were awarded $250 scholarships. Seniors who have
obtained straight A’s so far throughout their tenure at Moline High School received
$340 scholarships.

This is the 36th year that the former Harold P. Griffith Chapter Moline High School
National Honor Society Foundation has awarded scholarships. Harold P. Griffith began
the original trust for the former Harold P. Griffith Chapter Moline High School National
Honor Society Foundation, now called the Moline High School National Honor Society
Harold P. Griffith Scholarship Endowment. The Griffith family manages the endowment
through the Moline Regional Community Foundation and annually donates the funds for
the scholarships, as well as receiving donations from those in the community.

Andrew Grau was selected as the recipient of the twelfth annual Harold P. Griffith
Scholarship. This award is for $1,000 and is renewable, for a total award of 4 years
($4,000 total). Andrew Grau served the NHS chapter as treasurer as well as being an
officer for the History Club. He also was co-editor of the Line O’Type school
newspaper.

The Induction ceremony started with the Moline High School Concert Choir singing Old
Moline. During the ceremony, NHS student officers gave speeches on Character,
Scholarship, Leadership and Service. The event was well attended with over 800
students, parents and grandparents in attendance. The evening ended with a reception in
the lobby of the MHS Bartlett Performing Arts Center.
