P.E. Facility

Building Health Skills for Life!
Moline-Coal Valley School District is proud to unveil our brand-new, multi-purpose physical education facility at Moline High School. Community members, civic and business leaders, school board members and district staff gathered to dedicate and tour the new facility at a special ceremony on September 15, 2021. Students participated in an official ribbon cutting and also demonstrated physical fitness and sports activities.

Designed by Shive-Hattery and built by Russell Construction, this $14 million, 60,000 SQ open concept addition offers new health and wellness opportunities for students, as well as improved safety and efficiency.

Amenities include four full-sized, multi-sport courts (basketball, tennis, and volleyball) enclosed by a six-lane, 200-meter track, field events areas, and retractable batting cages suspended from the ceiling for all-weather softball and baseball practice. The facility also features a large state-of-the-art weight room, new wrestling room, training room, locker rooms, equipment storage, and a new commons area.

The sports center/gymnasium opened for student use for physical education classes and athletic practices on January 19, 2021. The new PE facility gives students a centralized location to further their education for life-long health and well-being while providing an array of opportunities to explore physical education in a safe and secure environment.

Future Ready
Our new facility provides inclusive wellness opportunities for all students and student-athletes. They can tailor their personalized training programs via iPad connected to machines in the new, expanded weight room. The addition also includes an all-gender restroom and complies with the latest ADA standards; all students of all ability levels can participate and feel welcome.

Fostering Connection

A new commons connects the physical education facility with the cafeteria. In what used to be a bottleneck for school traffic, this area will provide a space for students to spread out to study, dine, or connect.
