July 5, 2020
Dear MHS Student and Parent,
I hope you all have found time to relax after a difficult end to the school year this past spring. Like you, the staff and administration at MHS miss our “normal” school routine and hope for a return to that “normal” soon. Currently, the district is working to formulate a fall return to school plan that meets the requirements of the recently-published state guidance for fall, promotes the health and safety of students and employees, and equitably addresses the learning needs of our entire student population. As soon as that plan is developed, details of our fall start will be published to all families. Until then, I wish you a fun and fruitful summer!
Please note the following information:
Freshman Orientation - We plan to still host a freshman orientation program, but must do so with
student safety and state guidelines in place. We plan to issue 9th graders new chromebooks
at this time. More information to follow.
Moline High School Open House - We will likely host a virtual Open House for families to become
acquainted with your student’s teachers. More information to follow.
Student Schedules - Student schedules will be visible in Skyward student access the day prior to the
start of school. If a student requires a hard copy of his/her schedule, printing options are available in the MHS Media Center/Info Hub. Schedule changes are not permitted. If there is a career path addition or a clerical error to address, please contact your student’s counselor. Unregistered students will not have access to their class schedule until registration is complete.
Summer Registration for the 2020-2021 School Year - If you have not yet completed the online
registration process, please do so as soon as possible by logging into your parent access
through Skyward. The link to parent access can be found at www.molineschools.org, under “Parents and Students”. If you have misplaced your password, you may click the “forgot my password” option within the login window. For additional tech support, please contact (309)743-8989. The online registration window for returning students will close on July 27th.
Upon completing and submitting the online registration documents, Skyward will inform you of
next steps for the registration process. If you are given the message to report to District
Registration for proof of residency, please plan to attend on the dates below. Be sure to bring three (3) forms of verification, as explained on the district website, under “Parents and Students”, “Registration Information”.

Student Health & Safety
Physicals and Immunizations
Any student new to the district and/or enrolling in their freshman year will need proof of a
physical completed by a licensed physician. A parent or guardian must complete and sign the parent/guardian portion of the state physical examination form, as well. Students new to the district must also show evidence of both dental and vision exams.
Students must be up-to-date on state-required immunizations unless a Religious Exemption
and necessary paperwork for objections to the immunization requirements are on file. Students entering their senior year will need proof of a meningitis booster (2nd dosage) after their 16th birthday to be in compliance.
Specific information from the district nursing staff, a list of required immunizations, and all
medically-related forms are available on the district website (www.molineschools.org) under “Parents and Students”, “Health & Safety” tabs.
PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) for Fall 2020
MHS staff is committed to a safe and clean learning environment for our students. Per
guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education, all people entering the school building will
be required to wear an appropriate face covering, even when social distancing is observed.
Visitors to the building will be kept to a minimum, and item drop-offs will be limited to essential items. More information on safety precautions will be forthcoming, along with the return to school plan for fall.
Important Links for Student Activities and Programming
We have made some changes in our student code for appearance, as well as our approach to student behavior for the 2020-2021 school year. Additional details of these updates will be posted to the MHS website at mhs.molineschools.org as the school year begins, under “Student Life”, 2020-2021 Student Handbook. Keep a lookout for additional information from both the district and Moline High School regarding our return to fall 2020.
