Monday, September 6th - Labor Day. NO SCHOOL!!!

Tuesday, September 7th - Do, check, and turn in reading activity worksheet 26.2 How to Care for Your Monarch (C26.2 HtCfYM RA/C26.2 HtCfYM). Begin Monarch Log on Question of the Day Sheet #2 (ESQOTD B 2009). Go over 5.1 PPT Questions D and E Slide 3 (PPT C5.1). Demonstration: Rock Forming Minerals. Homework: Read 5.1 and do letters F-H of Goal 1 (ESC5Obj (2010))(due Wed) and do letters I-K of Goal 1 (due Thurs for QUIZ).

Hello, students!

Here is what we are doing in Chemistry this week:

Monday, September 6th - Labor Day. NO SCHOOL!!!

Tuesday, September 7th - If you did not pass the Safety Quiz with a 79.5% or higher yet, you MUST take it and get it graded TODAY!!! If you didn't show me your E-3 Types of Observations Prelab on Friday, it is due at the START of class today (GUIDELINESFORLABREPORT-08/E-03-10 ls/E-3 O Data Table). Did you remember your closed toed shoes? Do E-3 Lab Day 1. Discuss Guidelines for Graphing (GUIDELINESFORGRAPHING-08) and do E-3 Analysis (due Wednesday).

Monday, August 30th - Question of the Day #7. Review Seasons overheads and learning tricks. Complete and turn in 26.2 Supplemental Review with partner (Rally Coach)(C26.2 SR). Finish Worksheet packet "Hemispheres; "Day and Night"; "Summer and Winter"; and "The Seasons" (due Tuesday). Homework: Study for Section 26.2 Quiz. Make half page "cheat sheet". Do 26.2 EC X Word (due Wed).

Tuesday, August 31st - Question of the Day #8. Check and turn in Worksheet packet "Hemispheres; "Day and Night"; "Summer and Winter"; and "The Seasons". Play 26.2 Fan-N-Pick with group of four (C26.2 FaP). Homework: Study for Section 26.2 Quiz. Make half page "cheat sheet". Do 26.2 EC X Word (due Wed).

Wednesday, September 1st - NO Question of the Day. Turn in 26.2 EC X Word. Take 26.2 Quiz. Complete and turn in Fact Bingo and earn a prize! Homework: Read 5.1 and do letters B and C of Goal 1 (ESC5Obj (2010)) (due Thurs).

Thursday, September 2nd - Question of the Day #9. Do and check Activity: What is a Mineral (C5 WiaM)? Go over 5.1 PPT Questions B and C Slide 1-2 (PPT C5.1). Demonstration: halite and pyrite. Homework: Read 5.1 and do letters D and E of Goal 1 (due Fri).

Monday, August 30th - Review Safety. Last day to turn in Safety Contract for full credit. Turn in Safety Room Map. Take Safety Quiz. If you get lower than a 79.5% on your Safety Quiz, you MUST retake it Wednesday!!! Friday, September 3rd - Turn in E-2 Practice Problems and More Practice Problems. Take E-2 Test. Stamp E-3 Prelab.

Thursday August 19th - Introduce Blog. Introduce Question of the Day Sheet and do first question (ESQOTD B 2009). Complete Textbook Scavenger Hunt with partner and turn in (ESTSH 2007). Welcome to Chemistry!

Here is what we are doing the first eight days:

Wednesday, August 18th - Seating Chart. Pick up black Chemistry textbooks, MHS Chemistry Objectives Booklets (CHEM BOOKLET 2010-11), and MHS Workbooks and put names in each in pen. Fill out and turn in name note cards and Chemistry Student Information Sheets (chemistry-student-information-sheet-fall). Homework: Buy a Science Notebook with graph paper squares, a scientific calculator with an "EE" or "EXP" button, and pens. READ pages 3-6 in Booklet and get Safety Contract signed and returned ASAP (due on or before Monday, August 30th).

Thursday August 19th - Discuss Guidelines for Measuring from page 10 in Booklet (GUIDELINESFORMEASURING-08). Do letter "As" on Measuring Worksheet as a whole class and transfer to page 11 in Booklet. Do Chemistry Scavenger Hunt using pages 8-9 in Booklet and letter "Bs" on Measuring Worksheet. Homework: Buy a Science Notebook with graph paper squares, a scientific calculator with an "EE" or "EXP" button, and pens. READ pages 3-6 in Booklet and get Safety Contract signed and returned ASAP (due on or before Monday, August 30th).

Friday, August 20th - Check Chemistry Scavenger Hunt. Check letter "Bs" on Measuring Worksheet and transfer to page 11 in Booklet. Finish and check letter "Cs and Ds" on Measuring Worksheet. Turn in Chemistry Scavenger Hunt and Measuring Worksheet. Begin E-1 Notes (base units)(E-01-09 ss). Complete E-1 Practice Problems 1-3 ALL from page 4 in Workbook in your Science Notebook. Homework: Buy a Science Notebook with graph paper squares, a scientific calculator with an "EE" or "EXP" button, and pens. READ pages 3-6 in Booklet and get Safety Contract signed and returned ASAP (due on or before Monday, August 30th). READ E-1 Metric System and Conversions.
