CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

The Random Acts of Kindness Club is hosting its first meeting today at 3:10 in B217. If you want to spread some joy, join us!

The first FCA meeting of the year will be at 7:30 A.M. on Wednesday, September 10th in E215.  Hope to see you there!

Attention Natural Helpers:  Room B131 will now be open on Mondays starting TODAY for National Helpers during lunch.

Young Life meets tonight at 8:08 P.M. at Riverside Life Center across from the softball fields.  Bring your friends.

Drama Club will be meeting tomorrow after school in E204.

COUNSELING CENTER

Do you need community service hours or just want a volunteer opportunity?  Logan Elementary is looking for students to help work their school carnival Friday, October 17th from 5:30-8:00 P.M. Please see Mrs. Thompson in the counseling center if you’re interested.

On Saturday, October 18, Moline High School’s high ranking juniors are eligible to take the PSAT-NMSQT exam.  This exam is designed to give juniors practice with standardized testing in the format of the SAT, and it is also the ONLY OPPORTUNITY juniors have to qualify for National Merit Scholar status.  Any juniors interested in taking this optional exam need to see Mrs. Sanders in the counseling center between September 8 and September 24.  Slots are filled on a first-come, first serve basis and will only be held with the $25 testing fee.  (Checks should be made out to Moline High School.)  Spaces are limited, so all interested juniors are encouraged to sign up and pay as soon as possible.  No late registration will be accepted.

SPORTS

Any student that is interested in wrestling this season and not out for a fall sport may come to open mat on Mondays and Wednesdays starting at 3:30 in the wrestling room.

MISC

Lifetouch will be here today for make-up pictures.  This opportunity is for new staff or students as well as staff and students who were absent for the last picture day.  Please go to the auditorium until 12 noon to get your picture taken.

MHS Bible Study will be having their first meeting of the year tomorrow (Friday) in Room J227 from 3:10-3:40.  All are welcome.

There will be a meeting of the Gay Straight Alliance tomorrow( Friday) after school in the Library media center. We will be working on planning our events and fundraisers for the year AND talking about the homecoming parade.  Old and new members are welcome!

Attention all students - The Moline High School Bass Fishing Team is looking to repeat it's 2014 IHSA State Championship by bringing home another state trophy this season.  Whether you strive to become a competitive angler or just enjoy fishing, come see what the bass team is all about.  The bass team will meet today immediately after school in Coach Albrecht's room, B322.  See Coach Albrecht if you cannot attend.

There will be a boys’ basketball meeting today in Room B152 for any boy not out for a fall sport.

For anyone interested in the boys swim team, come for a brief meeting after school on Friday in Room B155.

Are you interested in working on the 2015 yearbook?  The "M" editors are currently handing out applications for this year's staff.  Please stop by the Publication's Office to get an application.  If you have any questions, please talk to Ms. Hafner in B201.

Due to today's early dismissal, play auditions for James and the Giant Peach will be postponed until Monday. Friday's auditions will go on as scheduled.

The theme for homecoming this year is "An American Homecoming."  Please submit a t-shirt design in jpeg format to clarson@molineschools.org by Friday, Sept. 5th.  The winning designer will receive prizes including a debit card, free homecoming ticket, and free t-shirt.

You need your student ID for breakfast, lunch, to enter the library and attend MHS events. All students must present their ID to enter these areas by Tuesday, Sept. 2nd. New ID's can be purchased at the bookstore for $5.00.

National Honor Society Members--The annual business meeting to elect officers, sign up for committees, and get general information is tonight at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.  The deadline to sign up to be a committee chair or nominate members for office is today at 3:00 p.m. in the Counseling Center.  We will vote on officers at the meeting.
