Student-led Bible Study will be meeting today after school in J227 from 3:10-3:40.  All are welcome to join us!

GSA will be tie dying tee shirts in E 311 after school on Monday.  Please bring a shirt or something you want to tie dye for the parade.

There will be a Robotics Club meeting Tuesday in room E305 at 3:05.

COUNSELING CENTER

National Honor Society Members:  If you have not paid dues and signed up for committees yet, you must do so by the end of this week.  We also need 20 students to sign up for the field trip next week to have enough people to go.  Please see Mrs. Ryser or Mrs. Thompson in the Counseling Center right away.

Fields of Pizza is looking for students to volunteer to walk with them in the parade to distribute treats and coupons.  If interested, please see Mr. Larson in J212.

Homecoming is next week - show your school spirit by dressing up all week!  Check out the fliers posted around the building for each days theme - and please remember that the school dress code is still in effect!  Go Maroons!

There will not be a Chromebook charging station available today in the Cafeteria during lunch.

Hey juniors:  Want to build a float?  If you want to help work on a class float during Homecoming week.  Please go to Ms. Breidenbach’s room, B207, after school today.  This will be a very brief meeting.

Moline High School's Financial Aid Night is tonight at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. There will be a brief presentation about the financial aid process and the new FAFSA deadline.  Representatives from a local college will be on hand to answer financial aid questions.  There will be a drawing for a $200.00 scholarship from those seniors attending.

Art Club is looking for young artists and art lovers of all levels.  Meetings are held every Tuesday after school in room E111.  We hope to help all students pursue and find success in their artistic adventures.

The Young Women United will have its first meeting tomorrow morning at 7:40 in the library.  The club is open to any student interested in improving the community through fundraising, volunteering, and self- improvement workshops.

St. Ambrose is holding a Physical Therapy Open House this Saturday, Sept. 17th from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  If you are interested, please come to the counseling center for more information.

Black Hawk College is having a Unity event today from Noon to 6 p.m.  This is an interactive public art project celebrating our community's uniqueness and strengths that tie us all together.  Please come to the counseling center for more information.

ComedySportz tickets are on sale at the bookstore for $3. The performance will be in the Auditorium on Friday, September 23 during 5-7th periods. Please remember to have your teachers sign your tickets for attendance purposes.

The entire Academic Team will have an introductory meeting today after school in E102. Anyone interested in joining or just finding out more about the Academic Team is also encouraged to attend.

Kaleidoscript will meet today in B215 to work on setup for the Activities Fair on Wednesday. Plan to stop in and help!

Fellowship of Christian Athletes will be meeting tomorrow morning in room E114 at 7:30.  All students are welcome to join us.

The Crime Stoppers members list is posted outside the Dean’s office.  Crime Stoppers will have their first meeting Thursday in the cafeteria after school.  We will select officers at that time.

Thursday’s Art Club meeting has been cancelled. The next Art Club will meet Tuesday of next week, Sept. 13th from 3:10 to 4:10. We will vote for officers and pitch our homecoming designs.

The Special Olympics organization is in in need of volunteers for our annual bowling competition at Highland Bowl on Avenue of the Cities.  It is on Sunday September 25th.  You can sign up for the morning, afternoon or all day!  This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to volunteer for a great cause and lots of fun too!  Sign up is in J130.  We hope to see you there!

COUNSELING CENTER

P.E.O. STAR Scholarship - Nominations are open to graduating senior women who exhibit excellence in leadership, academics, extracurricular activities, community service, potential for future success and will be attending a post-secondary educational institution.  Deadline is September 21, 2016.

United States Senate Youth Program--Hearst Scholarship - Open to students actively serving in qualified leadership positions for the entire 2016-2017 academic year. (The 55th Annual United States Senate Youth Program will be held in Washington D.C. March 4-11, 2017--attendance is required to receive the financial scholarship). Deadline is October 5, 2016.

Joseph Baldwin Academy - Nominations open to 9th grade students with scores in the 95th percentile or above in at least one area on a recognized and normed standardized exam. Nominees must take the ACT on or before December 10, 2016 to be fully eligible. Deadline is October 7, 2016.

Horatio Alger Scholarship - Open to high school seniors graduating in the spring or summer with plans to enter a college no later than the fall following graduation. Deadline is October 25, 2016.

Zombie Scholars Academy - Open to 9th, 10th and 11th grade students interested in problem-based exploration of science, literature and leadership. Deadline is November 12, 2016.

Washington University Dansworth Scholarship - Open to students who plan on attending Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Deadline is November 15, 2016.

SPORTS

Open gym will begin next week for any boy interested in playing basketball.  Please see Adrian Ritchie, Sean Taylor, Max Haverland, or Scott Verstraete for the open gym schedule.

Auditions for the Fall Show will be held today in the Auditorium from 3:30 to 5:30. No individual sign-ups necessary. Further details will be posted on the Drama board just outside B214.

Attention homecoming court members: This is a reminder that your Informational Sheet listing your awards and other biography information is due to Mrs. Norcross in B206 by the end of today.  Please see Mrs. Norcross if you have any questions.

This is a reminder to all students attending the football game this evening; you must have your current ID and student athletic pass. Students with athletic passes should proceed through gate 4.  If you need to purchase a ticket you can do so at gate 1 and 2.  Backpacks, signs and noise makers are not permitted. Maroons do not go to the visitor side. No Horseplay in grassy areas or walk ways. All students should be seated on the bleachers during the game cheering on the Maroons.

Today is the day! All creative students please attend today's Kaleidoscript meeting in B215 at 3:15! See Mrs. MacLennan or Ms. Hays for more information.

The Interact Club will have its first meeting today at 3:10 in J128.  One of the Interact Club’s big projects is the Student Hunger Drive, which will begin soon and ends in early November.  We need your ideas and we need your help!  Plan to attend this meeting on Thursday.

The first GSA meeting of the year will be today in the Media Center at 3:10.  If you are interested in running for office or participating in the club or Homecoming parade, please plan to attend or see Mrs. Mesick in the Media Center or Mrs. Cook in E-311.

French Club will be held after school today in room J323.  This club is open to all MHS students.  See you today after school.

Any student interested in being an officer in MHS' Random Acts of Kindness Club should see Ms Ciucci or Ms Hays this week. We will be selecting officers Friday after school.
