The Moline Chess Team will begin meeting today at 3:10 P.M. in J206.  Anyone interested in chess may join the team.  See Mr. Thompson in J206 if you have any questions.

There will be a Kaleidoscript meeting in B215 @ 3:15 on Tuesday. See all members there! If you haven't picked up your shirt or turned in your lollipop money, tomorrow is the best time to do so! Please bring registration for Whitewater as well.

Random Acts of Kindness Club members, your posters are ready to display! Please stop by B217 today after school to pick up a poster and hang it up in the building.

COUNSELING CENTER

Navy Seals training:  If you would like to learn more about the Navy and see a seal train, sign up with Mr. Woods in the Counseling Center today!

Tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 7th is College Application Day at MHS.  All students and staff are invited to wear their college gear to highlight the importance of completing college applications early.  Over 200 seniors will complete a college application tomorrow.  College changes everything.

Picture re-takes will be taken during Period 4 in the auditorium today.  Please bring in your original picture packet to turn in when you get your re-takes.

Seniors:  Graduation Items and Cap and Gown orders are due on Tuesday, October 14th from 7:30 A.M. until 1:00 P.M.  This is your only day to place your graduation order at school!

Attention all students:  The Clinic has a new electronic check in system and students will need their ID cards to check in.

On Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 6:30 PM the cast of "James and the Giant Peach" will perform a scene from the show at the Moline Public Library in the Children's Theater.  Afterwards, the cast members will be on hand to help kids make insect-themed crafts and art projects. If you have young brothers or sisters, this would be a perfect activity to take them to. Best of all; IT'S FREE!

Congratulations to all Special Olympians for a spectacular day of bowling! Everyone did a great job!  A special thank you to those volunteers who showed up to help make this bowling event a success!!

The set construction for "James and the Giant Peach" has moved from Saturday to Sunday, October 5 at 2:00. We'll be painting, so be sure to wear paint clothes.

SPORTS

Reminder to all students attending sporting events: No bags/backpack, or outside food and drinks are allowed into the game.  All students must have their ID to enter with their athletic pass or purchase a ticket at student price. Once you leave the game you cannot return.  Please make sure you have coats, blankets and etc. before entering.

Any wrestlers that were on the team last season are more than welcome to ride on the wrestling float. Please meet in student parking lot between 1:00-1:30. Look for the big Army truck.

MISC

Homecoming tickets are still on sale in the bookstore for $20.00 and may be purchased until 11:00 today.  Tickets will be on sale Saturday at the door for $25.00.  No guest forms will be accepted on Saturday. 

Attention underclassmen:  If you ordered Lifetouch pictures and have not gotten them yet, you can pick them up in the main office.

Attention all Gay Straight Alliance members: please meet in E311 after school today to plan for the parade and our fundraiser Friday night.

The Teen Advisory Group of the Moline Public Library will meet on Thursday, October 2 at 3:30. Quad City area teens are invited to help plan programs and events for teens, give feedback about the library, and meet new friends.

The Moline Public Library is offering after-school gaming on Wednesdays from 2:30 to 4:30. Stop by the Teen Corner for a variety of video games, board games, crafts, and other activities.

Attention all Bass Team members and any student interested in the Bass Team:  Bass Team boat building will be this Thursday evening from 6-7:30 at Greg and Sylvia Crouch's house - located across from Meyers Tree Farm.  This will include getting the Bass Team boats ready for the parade as well as a pizza party.  Plan to attend a brief Bass Team meeting today with Coach Albrecht after school in B322 or tomorrow before school at 7:50 am.  Maps to the location will be distributed as well as other important information.  See Coach Albrecht if you cannot attend.

The Interact Club and Student Hunger Drive will have a brief meeting today after school to elect officers and discuss food drive activities for Homecoming.

There are still three spots left on the field trip to attend the Illinois High School Theater Festival. Don't let this fun opportunity pass you by. Stop by Mrs. Griesenbeck's room, B214, and pick up permission forms today. The first three to turn in the forms get the spots.

Drama Club will meet today after school in Room E204.

Kaleidoscript will meet in B217 at 3:17 today.  We will hand out lollipops and finalize plans for the parade.  See you in Ms. Hays’ room.

There will be a FCA meeting tomorrow morning.  We will be voting on final t-shirt designs, so please try to attend and bring a friend.

All HOSA members:  There will be a brief meeting tomorrow at 3:05 in room J138.

COUNSELING CENTER

Seniors:  Today you will be signing up for College Application Day, which is October 7th.  Your P.E. and Athletic Medical Study Hall teachers will be asking you today if you would like to participate. Seniors who are out of P.E., and do not have a study hall will need to sign up in the Counseling Center with Mrs. Thompson.  Completing college applications early gives students a better chance of being admitted to their chosen colleges and being considered for scholarships.

Thursday and Friday the price increases to $20.00, so get your tickets early to avoid the lines and price increase.  Anyone that is bringing a date from another school needs to have a guest application filled out and returned to the bookstore by Wednesday, October 1st to avoid a $5.00 late charge.  Guest forms are available at the bookstore.

Remember your ID is needed to purchase tickets and get into the dance.  Semi-formal dress is required.  No jeans or hats permitted.  All detentions must be served in order to attend the dance.  See your dean if you have questions.

The Annual International Walk to School Day is Wednesday, October 8th.  The Illinois Department of Transportation encourages schools throughout the state of Illinois to participate.

As one of the Student Hunger Drive’s activities, Thursday night there will be a volleyball game between Moline and Rock Island.  Super fans are asked to bring can goods for the Student Hunger Drive.  The team with the most cans will take all!

Moline High School Students:  Did you know that you can receive training at the Boys and Girls Club Teen Center to work in a bank?  They also have great food, help for homework, and computers to use.  The Boys and Girls Club also has sports teams and opportunities to participate in the fine arts.  If you are interested in these great opportunities for high school students, sign up today in the Counseling Center.
