The Sports Unlimited Club will be meeting today in the cafeteria right after school.  Members are encouraged to attend this important meeting.

Student-led Bible Study will be meeting Friday after school in J227 from 3:10-3:40.  Please join us.  All are welcome.

Attention all seniors and juniors graduating early: You will be filling out a senior survey in your PE class this Thursday or Friday indicating your college or career plans after high school.  Please be sure to print legibly on your form.  If you are not in a PE class, you may pick up a form in the Publication's Office in 2nd floor B-wing.  All forms must be turned in no later than Tuesday, May 3 in order to be published in the last issue of The Line O 'Type.

COUNSELING CENTER

The Moline Kiwanis Club Scholarship is now available to senior students.  Applications may be downloaded from the counseling website.  This scholarship has a due date of May 13, 2016.

Volunteers are needed to work the Willard school carnival on May 6th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.  If you’re interested, see Mrs. Thompson in the Counseling Center to sign up.

Prom tickets are now on sale in the bookstore.  Prom will be held on Saturday, May 7th at the Moline Viking Club.

MHS Cheer Tryouts: Parent/Participant meeting is tonight at 6:00 pm in the Driver’s Ed classroom (B152).  Tryout clinics will be Tuesday, May 3rd and Wednesday, May 4th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm in the Wrestling Room.  Tryout date will be Thursday, May 5th beginning at 4:00 pm in the East Gym.

Link Crew Leaders have been selected. The list of accepted leaders is posted outside the counseling center. If you've been selected you'll need to stop in the counseling center to get the dates of the training and accept your position as a Link Crew leader. There were many applicants and it's extremely hard to choose these leaders, so if you were not accepted, please do not hesitate to apply again next year!

The Justin Sharp Memorial Scholarship is now available to graduating seniors.  Applications may be downloaded from the counseling website.  This scholarship has a due date of June 1.

Today is College Signing Day! Any senior or 6th semester grad will have the opportunity to "sign" to their intended college. This is a nationwide initiative started by the First Lady. Students are encouraged to make their decisions and join the nation as seniors across the country post their "signing selfies" on Twitter. If you post that picture with the hashtags #BetterMakeRoom and #CollegeSigningDay, it might just show up on American Eagle's Times Square billboards today, where thousands of people walk by every day! Better yet—the First Lady herself may retweet your post!

The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Scholarship is now available.  The scholarship may be accessed from the counseling website.  This scholarship has a due date of May 13.

The Chad Unterscheidt Scholarship is now available to Moline High School students exclusively.  There will be four scholarships in the amount of $500 each.  Applications may be downloaded from the counseling website.  Applications are due in the Athletic Office by May 1.

Are you interested in spending the fall semester interning and learning in Washington DC?  Apply today for the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation’s Leadership and the American Presidency program.  See Mr. Woods in the Counseling Center if you have questions.

MHS 2016 season Color Guard tryouts will be April 25-29th on the MHS front lawn from 3:30 to 4:30.

Order forms for senior t-shirts are available in the Bookstore now. T-shirts are $10 and the deadline for ordering is Tuesday, April 26th.

The Moline Public Library is hosting a Poetry Café and Awards Ceremony tonight at 6:30. Poets who entered the contest can read their poems, and friends and families are invited too.

Any teen whose family has been impacted by cancer, there is an event this Saturday at the Class Establishment Theater in Rock Island that involves improv by Comedy Sportz.  It is sponsored by the Living Proof Exhibit and Unity Point Trinity.  Please come to the Counseling Center to register.

A reminder: With the warm weather, dress appropriately. Undergarments may not be visible, sunglasses, hats and chain wallets are not to be worn in the building.

The MHS Intramural Power lifting meet will be held Monday evening April 25th.  You must pre-register at the bookstore by Friday April 22nd.

All juniors will sit for the ACT exam tomorrow morning.  Our students are lucky to have a community who supports a free college exam for every student.  We are confident that you are well prepared for this assessment.  Lists of testing rooms have been posted throughout the building.  Please be sure to check these lists in advance to determine your room assignment.

Special testing rules will be in effect.  ACT prohibits phones from the testing room; please leave your phone at home or in your car.  A photo ID is required for admittance to the testing rooms.  Please bring a calculator and three #2 pencils.  A good night sleep is also recommended.  Breakfast will be available to all juniors in the cafeteria starting at 7:30 a.m.  Please be in the testing room ready to test by 8:05 a.m.

Special buses are not available tomorrow, the day of ACT testing for juniors.  You will need to go to the Avenue of the Cities to catch the Metro Link bus.

Did you know that suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among young people ages 10 to 24? And LGBTQ youth are 4 times more likely to attempt suicide as their straight peers. Today at MHS, several students are participating in a "Day of Silence" to bring awareness to this problem. These students may be friends or family of members of the LGTBQ who are standing in solidarity with their peers. Notice the voices that you don't hear today.

Quad City Arts is still looking for qualified local dancers, ages 15-21, to apply for this summer’s Metro Arts Youth Apprenticeship Program’s dance project!  The link to the online application can be found on quadcityarts.com (http://quadcityarts.com/programs/metro-arts/). The deadline for applications is Wednesday, April 20.  Email mday@quadcityarts.com with questions.
