CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

Reminder: Kaleidoscript is taking submissions for all writing, artwork, and musical composition through next week. We are also accepting submissions for a creative cover design. Become a published artist! Stop by Room B215 or see Mrs. MacLennan for details.

 

Student Congress members: Set-up for Sadie's has changed. It will now start at 10:30 am on Saturday at Wharton.

 

COUNSELING CENTER

Seniors: If you still need to complete your FAFSA for financial aid for college next year, Black Hawk College is hosting College Goal Sunday this Sunday, February 26th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the BHC Building 1 Lower Lobby. There will be one on one assistance and Spanish translators available. For more information, please see Mrs. Dexter in the counseling center.

Seniors attending Black Hawk College should plan on attending FYI Night at Black Hawk College on either February 28th or March 8th at 6:00 p.m. in Building 4 on second floor. You will receive information on setting goals, paying for college, exploring careers, and registering for classes. Please see your counselor for more information.

 

The following scholarships are available: (applications may be downloaded from the MHS counseling website)

1)   The Illinois Lumber and Material Dealers Association Educational Foundation - Applicants   must pursue a career in an industry related field of study - due Apr. 3

2)   The University of Illinois - Balanced Man Scholarship - due Apr. 16

3)      The Association of Illinois Township Committees on Youth – due Apr. 20

 

SPORTS

Softball tryouts will start Monday, Feb. 27th. Fresh/Soph will tryout from 3:30-5:30, Jr/Sr from 5:15-7:15 in the west gym.

 

MISC

The list of Industrial Tech and Engineering departmental honors is posted outside of D-112.  See Mr. Carlough if you have any questions.

 

The Moline Bass team is taking orders for the 2012 bass team t-shirts and hoodies. Orders will be placed next week and all apparel will arrive the following week. Orders may be placed at the bookstore or you may see Mr. Albrecht in B-322. As always, thanks for supporting the MHS Bass Team!

 

Attention all Staff & Students: tonight at 7:30 is your only chance to see your State Champions perform their contest play, "The Legacy Quilt" as well as see other members of Encore perform their pieces!  For only $5, you get an amazing dessert & drink, plus an evening full of spectacular performances!  Join us tonight at 7:30 in the cafeteria for a great night of Dessert Theatre!

 

Tomorrow’s dance is at Wharton Field House. There are still Tickets available through the bookstore. Don't miss out on this years "Space Jams Sadies”!

 

Got talent?  Try out for the MHS student talent show; all talents are welcome to audition on Tuesday, February 28th in the AUD after school. Sign-up to audition outside Ms. Ciucci's room, J323.

 

A message to all students who ride Metrolink buses: Routes have been rescheduled so that all WEST-bound students are to be picked up behind the MHS tennis courts between 3:05 and 3:15 on regular school days. Two buses are scheduled to pick up MHS student riders at this time. If you ride home on a WEST-bound Metrolink bus, DO NOT go to the Ave of the Cities. Security officials are now re-directing students on the Ave. to catch the bus at the MHS tennis courts.

 

Attention Students and Teachers, including Mr. Schwaegler's 4th Period, Symphonic Band, who are attending the Blues Assembly in the Auditorium: please report directly to the Auditorium at the beginning of 4th period at 10:55.  This way the program may begin promptly at 11:00 and conclude at 11:45.  Thank you.

 

Stage Crew for the "Sound of Music" will meet tomorrow (Saturday) from 9:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. Report to the Stage via the Load In Door on Saturday morning.  Come prepared to build and paint. Remember to wear proper clothes, shoes and to tie up long hair for safety.  See you there!

 

All cast members of the "Sound of Music" are asked to check the door outside the choir room for rehearsal schedules and changes DAILY.  There is a request for costume fittings for the cast---please check this notice! Tickets will be going on sale very soon. Stay posted for further info. Dates of the performance are March 22, 23, & 24. 

 

Congratulations to the Mighty Ducks on their total domination of the Floor Hockey Tournament. Led by Mike Schwarz, Ty Buenting and Logan Frost, the Ducks trounced the Junior Tropics in the final 9-2. Please check the east gym for Garrett Miner’s pride…it was reported lost during the game!
