CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

The frosh/soph Academic Team brought home a 3rd place trophy from Sterling over the weekend. Teammates earning points to make this possible were Pranav Puri, Ben Wolf, Eric Scheidler, Biniam Anderber, and Steffen Timer. Good work!

Attention all theatre students: there are still a few spots left on the Circa 21 Day field trip. Bring $30.00 to B214, Mrs. Griesenbeck's room, to reserve your spot.  You’ll attend awesome theatre workshops in the morning, have lunch, then see the hit musical Grease in the afternoon. Don't be left behind. Questions? See Mrs. G. ASAP!

Drama Club will meet after school in E204. Yearbook pictures will be taken at today’s meeting. Any drama club member who doesn't want to be left out of the picture should plan on attending the meeting.

Upward Bound will have a study session today after school. Hope to see you there.

Book Club members who would like to be in the yearbook photo should meet in the library right after school on Wednesday.

Spanish and French Club: Come to J328 Thursday after school to play “Minute to Win It” games and have a snack. Please sign up in your classroom to bring treats.

National Honor Society seniors--Your picture for the yearbook has been scheduled for 3:05 on February 7th in the cafeteria.

COUNSELING CENTER

All sophomore students:  You will need to complete your online scheduling by Wednesday, February 1st at midnight.  When you are finished, print your course requests and put them in your counselor's box in the counseling center. If you do not complete your scheduling before that time, you will be required to do it after school in a computer lab at a later date.

The Quad City Area Labor Management Corporation is now offering two $1000 scholarships to graduating seniors. The due date for these scholarships is April 6, 2012. To access criteria and to download an application, visit the Counseling Website.

SPORTS

Track and Field practice is starting for any athlete not currently in a sport. Any girl, please see Mr. Bohnsack or Mr. Woods for information.

The PTSA ELLEN ROYS SCHOLARSHIP is now being offered exclusively to Moline High School graduating seniors. This scholarship is worth $300 and has a due date of March 23, 2012.  Applications may be downloaded from the Counseling Website.

Additional Scholarships have been posted to the MHS Counseling website as well:

1.  The St. Patrick Society Scholarship with a due date of March 2, 2012

2.  The Doric Lodge Scholarship with a due date of March 31, 2012

SPORTS

Tennis open gym for any student interested will begin Monday after school. Please meet in coach Jones’ room, J208A. Open gyms will be Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and will last approximately an hour. See coach Jones if you have any questions.

MISC.

We currently have 115 students signed up for auditions next week for "The Sound of Music".   The entire audition schedule is full BUT we have added times to make sure you can still audition. Please stop by the choir room and sign up for an audition time if you haven't done so already. If there is a conflict, please speak to Mr. May and we will try to work something out for you.   Remember that all students who are auditioning next Monday or Tuesday need to bring a copy of their song for the pianist. Scenes from the show that will be used in auditions for speaking parts are on reserve in the Library. You may study those at your convenience. Break a Leg!!

The Kaleidoscript is accepting submissions for its spring publication. We are looking for poems, short stories, screenplays, artwork, photography, and song lyrics. Stop by room B215 or speak to any English teacher, Art teacher, or Music teacher about submitting your work for publication. Release forms are available through Mrs. MacLennan. Share your talents with the MHS community and become a published author today!

Audition times begin at 3:15 and run until 8:00 p.m.  Stop by the choir room and reserve your 5-minute audition time. If you are interested in a speaking role, please sign up for an early time.  If you are interested in only a chorus/ensemble role, please sign up for a later time.  Everyone needs to prepare a song.  Select a song that is NOT from the Sound of Music and bring a copy of the music to your audition for the pianist to play from. Your song need not be memorized BUT it would be to your advantage to do so. Scenes from the musical will be on reserve in the Library starting on Tuesday for you perusal prior to the auditions next week.  The performances will be March 22-24.  Sign up TODAY!

The frosh/soph Academic Team swept the tournament at Geneseo on Saturday, winning all seven of their matches. Teammates contributing to this victory included Pranav Puri, Ben Wolf, Eric Scheidler, Biniam Anderber, Steffen Timer, Aditya Jain, and Connor Bivens. Congratulations on a job well done!

All cast and crew of “Harvey” need to report to the auditorium right after school today for set strike.

Attention Student Congress: there will be a meeting tonight at 6:30 in the cafeteria.

Young Life will meet tonight at 8:08 p.m. at Riverside Life Center (41^st St. & 24^th Ave.) Everyone is welcome so bring your friends.

The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers is now offering a $1000 scholarship to those individuals pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree. Download an application from the Counseling website, and the due date for this scholarship is April 27, 2012.

The Belgian Culture Association is now offering three $750 scholarships to graduating seniors.  To view the requirements and download the application, visit the Counseling Website.  The due date for this scholarship is April 14, 2012.
