Congratulations to the Frosh/Soph Academic Team for bringing home a 4th place trophy from the Macomb tournament.  Team members Pranav Puri, Ben Wolf, Biniam Anderber, Aditya Jain, Eric Scheidler, and Connor Malcom-Bluens contributed to this accomplishment against some tough competition.

 

MISC

Seniors please check your name on the Diploma List located outside the Registrar's office. This is how it will be on your diploma. All changes made after January 20th will cost $5. Notify Mrs. Hastings of any change.

 

Students! Help the planet by using the bottle and aluminum can recycle bins in the cafeteria!

SPORTS

Any freshman who plans on trying out for baseball needs to stop by room J206 and see Coach Dillie for information regarding workouts and tryouts.

Attention all animal lovers:  If you miss the animals at Niabi Zoo during the off season and love holiday decorations and lights, this event is for you. Niabi Zoo is hosting a new event called Zoo Lites from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Go visit the zoo tonight and enjoy the holiday décor.

Crime Stoppers will meet in room B131 after school today.

 

All NHS and Drama Students who volunteered to help at the Encore! tournament this weekend should come to a very quick meeting today at 3:15 in B208. If you are interested in helping with the tournament, but missed the sign-up, please come see Mr. Thomas!

Football players are reminded of the after school weight/fitness training program starting after Christmas break. See Coach Dillie or Coach Frakes to sign up for a spot.

Wear a hat on Friday to support MHS's Invisible Children Frontline Team. Buy a sticker from the bookstore before or after school on either Thursday or Friday for $1. You must be wearing a sticker to wear a hat, and the hat must not obstruct other students' view.

Congratulations to the members of the Academic Team for their performance last week in the Knowledge Master Open. Their score placed them 10th in Illinois and in the top one-third of teams across the country who took the 200 question test on computer. This weekend the Fresh-Soph team competes in Macomb while the Varsity travels to Kaneland.

Authentic Voices meets today (this period, or period 3) in E204.

There will be a holiday party for Spanish and French Club members tomorrow in J328 and J329. Come and enjoy the food, fun, games, and prizes. Let either Mrs. Larson or Mrs. Johnson know if you plan to attend.

The MHS Book Club will be meeting today during your lunch in E204. Hope to see you there!

Upward Bound will have a study session today after school in J222. Hope you can make it!

Gamer club will meet today after school in J231 for a Christmas party.

Key Club will NOT meet today. The next meeting will be after Christmas break.

There is a mandatory meeting for all students who are attending the Illinois High School Theatre Fest. You will meet today right after school in room E204. This is a REQUIRED meeting for all students who are going to the Fest.

The MHS Book Club will be having its meeting tomorrow during your lunch in E204. See you there!

 

Upward Bound will have a study session tomorrow after school in J222. Hope you can make it!

 

Key Club will meet Tuesday after school in the cafeteria.

 

There is a mandatory meeting for all students who are attending the Illinois High School Theatre Fest. You will meet tomorrow right after school in room E204, and, therefore, you will not have a normal Drama Club meeting. This is a REQUIRED meeting for all students who are going to the Fest. Questions? See Mrs. Griesenbeck in room B214.

The yearbook's sophomore section staff will meet after school today. Please come to the publication's office, so we can discuss pictures for your section.

 

COUNSELING CENTER

The ILLINOIS PTA is now offering two scholarships to graduating seniors who plan on majoring in education. To download an application for this scholarship, visit the Counseling Website. This scholarship has a due date of February 17, 2012.

 

SPORTS

Attention all staff and students: Orders are now being taken for 2012 bass team apparel. All 2012 shirts and sweatshirts will be gray with Maroon and White artwork. Order before Thursday and you'll get your shirts and sweatshirts before holiday break. You can place your orders through the bookstore or see Coach Albrecht in B322. All proceeds will help this year's bass team's pursuit of a state championship. As always, thanks for supporting the bass team.

 

There will be a Track and Field meeting in E-301 @ 2:27 today after school to discuss winter open workouts. This is for anyone Boy OR Girl not out for a winter sport.

 

MISC

Hurry and pre-order your 2012 all color yearbook for $55.00!  Only students who pre-order will get their yearbooks the first day of delivery. The last date to pre-order is December 21st. After that the price will increase to $65 and no more pre-orders will be taken.

 

Powder puff shirts have been reduced to $5. Get yours in the bookstore!

 

Parent's meeting for the trip to Italy is tonight in Mrs. Shelton's room, E-208. It will start at 6:00pm. We will be signing up those who are ready to meet the December 15th deadline. If you can not make it, please see Mrs. Shelton.

Reminder to all Line O’ Type editors – the first work night is tonight at 6:00.

 

All members of the Academic Team, grades 9 through 12, are reminded to attend the Fall KMO tonight in room E-204. You will start at 6:30 and finish by 8:30. Snacks and drinks provided. See coach Pitz if you have questions.

 

There will be a Quad City Scholars meeting tomorrow morning in room E214 at 7:30. All members and students interested in joining should attend.
