MISC

Stop by the library for coffee, hot chocolate and donut holes all day. This is also your chance to pay off your fines with all money being donated to Share Joys!

Tickets for the NHS talent show on Friday, Dec. 2^nd during 7^th period are on sale in the bookstore. Tickets are $3 each. Remember to have your 7^th period teacher sign your ticket.

Burgers on the Patio! Today and Tomorrow Student Congress will be grilling fresh 1/4 lb burgers during all lunches for Share Joys. Burgers are 12 tickets each.

See the the cities of Pompeii, Florence, Venice and Rome!  There will be another short information meeting after school on Thursday, December 1st for anyone interested in going to Italy.  Meeting will be after school in E-208.  See Mrs. Shelton if you have any questions.  Also a parent information night is scheduled for Wednesday, December 7th in E-208 at 6:00pm.

Authentic Voices members: Relax, reduce stress, exercise! Come to a yoga lesson tomorrow given by Abby from Indigo, either period 2 or 3 in the step aerobics room by the west gym.

The cast of "Harvey" needs one more actor! If you are interested in auditioning for the part of Dr. Sanderson, the dashingly handsome psychiatrist, please meet Wednesday at 2:30 in Room B214. We'll give you a script for a cold read, then announce the cast right away. Questions? See Mrs. Griesenbeck in room B214.

Three different scholarships are now available to graduating senior students from the Illinois American Veterans. Applicants must be the child or grandchild of a Veteran of the USA. Students may view the requirements and download an application off of the counseling website. The due date for these scholarships is March 1, 2012.

SPORTS

All remaining 2011 bass team shirts and sweatshirts have just been slashed in price. All long and short sleeve bass t-shirts are now on sale for an unbelievable $4 each! Get em while they last in the bookstore. Also, Coach Albrecht is now taking pre-orders for 2012 bass team shirts and sweatshirts. 2012 bass team apparel will be grey and maroon in color and have another really cool design! Contact coach Albrecht now for pre-order information and you'll get them before Christmas. And as always, thanks for supporting the #1 bass team in the state of Illinois!

Thank you MHS for making the Donut Eating Contest a success!  We raised a total of $14,368.07.  Sgt. Doug Gross, an MHS alumni with his group raised $1,229.00.  Top Banana or most funds raised went to the team of Abby Ryser, Rachel McGuire, Kendall Carson, and Raksha Madhaven with a total of $951.00.  The 2011 Donut King is Jonathan Sancen and the Donut Queen is Erica Lopez.  Thanks to Donut Delight and everyone involved.

Buy your Share Joys tickets to purchase raffle tickets from Share Joys elves for the student and staff raffles!  Prize lists are hanging in the hallway outside the main office.  Whitey's ice cream, Share Joys t-shirts, burgers on the patio, and many other opportunities are coming up this week.  Get those tickets today!

Drama Club: Anyone interested in being a part of the Improv Room this year MUST be at the drama club meeting today after school. We only get 4 practices to prepare, so attendance is mandatory for everyone planning on acting in the room. We will meet in the Aud. lobby instead of in room E204. Don't miss this practice.

COUNSELING CENTER

The Quad City Engineering and Science Council is accepting applications for its 2012 college scholarship awards from area high school students. The due date for this scholarship is January 27, 2012 and applications may be downloaded off the Counseling Website.

Attention cast and crew of Charlotte's Web--please report to the auditorium immediately after school for a brief meeting. It is important that the entire cast and crew comes to the auditorium immediately after school. We'll begin the brief meeting by 3:05.

Have you ever wanted to see the Colosseum in person? Taste pizza in Italy? Mrs. Shelton is heading back to Italy and wants to take you along. Come find out about the Italy trip scheduled for June 2013. The first informational meeting will be Tuesday after school until 3:20 in room E-208.

MHS students! Key Club would like to congratulate you in all of your efforts from this year's Student Hunger Drive. Our school was able to collect over 36,000 pounds of food for our local food bank. This means we have provided families in our area with over $65,000 worth of meals!  Great jobs students.

Also, congrats goes out to Mr. Castro's first period class. They are the winners of the 1st Period Cans Competition and they will receive a free breakfast from the MHS Key Club! Way to go class, you averaged 16 pounds of food per person!

Students are reminded that backpacks are not to be carried through the halls during the school day. They are to be placed in your lockers after you get to school in the morning.
