CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

Did you see it? The Invisible Children's film "Tony"? That movie about a boy who had to hide each night to avoid getting kidnapped and forced to become a child soldier?  MHS's Invisible Children Frontline team will show another video "The Rescue" on Nov. 2 at 6:30 in the aud. Bring your family and friends to become aware of the ongoing conflict in Africa that's affecting thousands of children each year.  

COUNSELING CENTER

The Iowa/Illinois Regional Auto Show Scholarship is now available to senior students. To view the criteria and to download an application, visit the Counseling Website. This scholarship has a deadline of January 4, 2012.

Attention National Honor Society members: There is a mandatory Share Joys kick off meeting next Wednesday, November 2nd in the choir room at 7:00 p.m. 

There will be an Aviation Career Conference hosted by Lewis University in Romeoville on Saturday, November 5th. See Mrs. Ryser if you are interested.

Attention students interested in engineering career fields: Deere and Company is offering a program for you to get "hands on" experiences and meet with top John Deere Engineers. If you are interested in attending the Nov. 14th informational meeting, please pick up an invitation with details from Mr. Carlough in D wing or from Mrs. Ryser in the Counseling Center. 

SPORTS

Wrestling open gyms will take place immediately after school on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday of next week. On Tuesday there will be a pre-season meeting immediately after school before the open gym. Important information on the upcoming season will be handed out. This meeting is mandatory for anyone, including managers, who want to be on the team. 

MISC

All seniors need to be photographed for the yearbook. Lifetouch/Prestige Portraits will be set up in the auditorium on Thursday, Nov. 3^rd from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for SENIOR students only. This is an opportunity for seniors who have NOT YET been photographed (at the studio) to get their photo in the yearbook. There is NO cost to you for this photo to be in the yearbook. If you would like to order a package from Lifetouch for a fee, you may do so. But again, there is no fee to be photographed for the yearbook. Thursday is your last chance, and all seniors must be photographed.

Sign-ups for audition appointments for the Winter Play, Harvey, are now available in Room B214. Stop in ASAP, sign up for an appointment, and receive your audition materials.  Hurry! The best time slots go first!

IMMEDIATE ACTION NEEDED!  Andrew Allen, a former Moline student, was in a car accident and is now paralyzed. His family is having a Haunted Hayrack ride to help raise funds for his medical treatment. They are looking for high school students who would like to be "zombiefied" and scare people as they go on the ride. You will receive a professional zombie makeup treatment and costume, and at the conclusion of the evening you'll receive pop and snacks. Interested? See Mrs. Griesenbeck TODAY to pick up an information form. The ride is this FRIDAY AND SATURDAY so you don't have time to wait to act on this. See Mrs. Griesenbeck in room B214 TODAY!

Congratulations goes out to the junior ladies who defeated the seniors in last nights Powder Puff game. The game went into overtime and the class of 2013 proved they are one tough class! Any girl who has purchased a Powder Puff t-shirt or would like to, can see Mrs. Suss in J111 after school. Thank you to everyone who helped make this another successful Student Hunger Drive event!

Any girls interested in basketball open gym should come to Wharton today from 3:30-5:00. Also, the girls basketball meeting was rescheduled for tomorrow at 3:15 in the East Gym.

Tonight is the Powder Puff game and Tug-of-War. Players are to be at Browning Field at 5 p.m. and the game will begin at 6 p.m. Come watch these girls duke it out. There is no entry fee if you bring a canned good donation in support of the Hunger drive.

Tonight is the Empty Bowls event from 5-8 here at MHS...The cost is 5.00 for students, 10.00 for adults, and 15.00 for families. Come pick out a bowl, sample soup from 16 restaurants, and help feed the hungry. All proceeds benefit the Student Hunger Drive. Hope to see you there!

Stop by the library to claim your prizes.

This years Souper Heroes will be selling treats through Thursday to help benefit Empty Bowl and Student Hunger Drive. You must purchase tickets at the bookstore in order to buy any treats. Stop by the bookstore before school, after school, or during lunch to enjoy these delicious treats!

Drama Club will meet after school tomorrow in E204. Be sure to pick up your order form for a Drama Club t-shirt today in room B214 though. Return your completed form and $12 payment by Thursday October 20.

The Authentic Voices group meets today in E204. Sophomores and seniors should be there this period (P.2). Freshmen and juniors will meet period 3. Stephanie Burrough, a Moline grad, is presenting an interactive discussion on “body image”.

All debate team members must see Miss Guerdet today in room J220 to get information for the upcoming competition.

Attn all Line O’ Type reporters & editors: There will be a meeting today after school at 2:25 to hand out article and picture assignments.

The first “M” staff meeting is today at 3:05 in room B206.  This meeting will not last long, so please be prompt. See you there.

MHS Intramurals will hold their annual Home Run Derby tonight at 6:00 p.m. There is no cost and cash prizes will be awarded to boys and girls champions. Sign up in J212.

The Taste of the Moline/Coal Valley Schools is this Friday at Wharton. Tickets are on sale in the main office. It’s only $5 for tickets worth 10 punches and $3 for tickets worth 5 punches. Get your tickets soon!

The Physical Education department is looking for certified lifeguards for the swimming units. If you are certified, please see any physical education teacher.

Don't forget to purchase your all color 100th anniversary yearbook before the price goes up.  Friday is the last day to get this special edition of the "M" for $50.
