SPORTS

Tennis open gym for any students interested starts today on the MHS tennis courts from 3:30-5:00. Please see Coach Jones in J208A if you have any questions or if you’d like to get a schedule of open gym dates.

 

MISC

Students: Remember the Library is closed today until 3:00. We look forward to seeing you again after school, and thank you for waiting.

 

Cap & Gown order forms are being collected outside the Counseling Office today. Please be sure to hand in your deposit. This is the ONLY day orders can be turned it at school.  

 

Homecoming float building starts Sunday in the following locations:

Seniors:  MHS Auto Shop  (See Mr. Adams with questions)

Juniors: Christian Friendliness  (41st St & 12th Ave) See Ms. Scannell with questions

Sophomores: Power Plus  (56th St & 4th Ave) See Mr. Mahieu or Mrs Welvaert

Freshman: Iams Barn 3608 49th Ave. (take the road behind Lowes) See Mrs. Diane Anderson with questions

 

Student Congress Event Staff T-Shirts are available in the Book Store $7.00

 

2011 Greatest Show on earth T-shirts are also available in the book store for $10.00

 

Comedy Sportz "Guys in Ties" will be performing on Friday October 7th during periods 5-6-7 in the Auditorium. Tickets are available in the bookstore for $3.00.  This show is a hit every year don't miss it!

 

On Monday, October 30th, we will have a modified class schedule to allow students to attend Homecoming Coronation. All students will be dismissed from 7th period at 2:05 p.m.

 

The Taste of The Moline/Coal Valley School District is coming up Friday, October 13th. Tickets are $5.00 for adults and only $3.00 for students. You may purchase tickets in the main office. Please support this event for the Moline Public Schools Foundation.

Crime Stoppers will meet in room B131 after school today. Please join us! Also, Crime Stoppers will pay a reward for information leading to catching the person or people responsible for the vandalism to the pop machine on the north side of the cafeteria. See detective Kautz in the Student Affairs office if you have any information.

 

 

COUNSELING CENTER

The Latino Youth Summit is this Saturday, October 1st at Black Hawk College. The goal of the summit is to provide students with culturally sensitive exposure to college life and to ease language and social barriers to their success. Lunch and breakfast will be served. You must get a permission form from your counselor before you attend the conference.

 

The following scholarships are now available for senior students.

2.  Deere Harvester Credit Union Scholarship

SPORTS

Boys interested in swimming should stop by and see Coach Ehlers in the Business Department.

 

Tennis open gym for any student interested will be Friday after school at the tennis courts from 3:30-5 p.m. Please see Coach Jones in J208A for any questions or for a schedule of open gym dates.

 

MISC

The MHS library will be closed tomorrow from 8:10 until 3:00. It will be available for use only before and after school, so plan accordingly.

 

Get your Homecoming tickets at the book store for $15 each. Get them soon, before lines get too long!

 

Cap & Gown order forms will be collected Friday, September 30th outside the Counseling Office. Please be sure to hand in your deposit at that time. It is the ONLY day orders can be turned it at school.  

 

School photos will be handed out today and Friday in the cafeteria. FYI – picture re-take day is Monday, October 3rd.

There is a Latinos Unidos meeting after school today in room J322.

 

Anyone interested in the chess team should come to the first practice today at 3:10 in room J207. You will learn more about chess, compete against other schools in tournaments, and get to know fellow students. Contact Mr. Thompson in J207 if you have questions about chess.

 

Student Congress will meet tonight at 6:30 in the cafeteria.

 

There will be a meeting in B215 for the Kaleidoscript after school on Tuesday, September 27th.

All creative people interested in writing, photography, poetry, and visual art should attend.

You will be discussing the layout of this year's edition, unveiling a new submission process, and selecting officers. Please see Mrs. MacLennan if you are unable to attend.

 

Key Club will meet in the cafeteria after school on Tuesday.

 

There is an Upward Bound study session tomorrow after school. Hope you can make it!

 

Drama Club will meet Tuesday after school in E204.

 

The frosh/soph Academic Team is having its first practice on Thursday after school in room E102. It's not too late to join!

If you owe any type of detention, your name has been submitted to the book store and you are unable to purchase Homecoming tickets until your detention has been served. The 40th annual Black Hawk College Night will be held next Tuesday, September 27th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Building 3 Gymnasium. Representatives from more than 80 colleges and universities will be there to answer your questions and give you information.

 

MISC

Don’t forget to turn in your senior panoramic photo order forms to the main office. All orders will be mailed out this Friday afternoon. You have until then to turn in your order envelope.

Authentic Voices will meet today in the aerobics room by the west gym. Juniors and seniors will meet 5th hour, freshmen and sophomores will meet 6th hour.

 

Thanks to the 43 students who came to the meeting last week to support Invisible Children. 

There will be an Invisible Children meeting in J209 on Thursday right after school, and new faces are welcome! We will discuss possible upcoming fundraising ideas. Bring a friend!

 

There will be a French Club meeting Thursday after school in J329. Please come to this fun club. Don’t forget to bring you t-shirt money! A bientot!

 

Spanish Club will also meet Thursday right after school in room J328.

Latinos Unidos: Stop by J322 after school today for the guest speaker with information about the Youth Summit. Bring your t-shirt designs as well.

 

Line O’ Type staff: There is reporter training after school today in B201. Editors meet at 6:00 for training.

 

Student Congress will meet tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.

 

Young Life will meet tonight @ Riverside Life Center (24th Ave. & 41st St.) at 8:08 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Latinos Unidos: There will be a guest speaker here Monday after school to discuss the Latino Youth Summit. If you are interested in the Summit or in learning more about it, stop by J322 at 3:10 on Monday. The Latino Youth Summit is at Black Hawk College on Saturday, October 1.  Breakfast and lunch will be provided. There are many interesting topics focused on helping high school Latino students to advance educationally and professionally. If you can’t make it to the Latinos Unidos meeting on Monday to hear the guest speaker on this topic, see your counselor to express your interest in attending.

 

Latinos Unidos members should also bring your t-shirt designs to the Monday meeting. You will vote on a design.

If you are interested in becoming involved in the Invisible Children movement at Moline High School, please attend our first meeting immediately after school today in room J209. (All Natural Helpers are asked to attend this meeting and to bring a friend).
