SPORTS

Any student interested in summer football information should see Coach SantAmour  in the east gym.

 

Any freshman boy interested in playing basketball needs to attend a meeting today in B152 right after school.

 

MISC

This is a reminder that all elevator keys must be returned to the clinic before leaving school for the summer. Also, all medication must be picked up by a parent or guardian. If it is not, it will be discarded.

COUNSELING CENTER

Juniors and seniors interested in pursuing a career in the medical field are encouraged to apply for mini-med school this summer. There are 12 spots for MHS students. The program is free to those accepted. The deadline is May 20th, so see Mr. Bodeen in the counseling office as soon as possible.

 

The Milan Indian Summer Festival Queen Pageant is Sunday, June 12th. You must be between the ages of 15-18 before Sept. 2nd to apply. See Mrs. Dexter for further details.

 

SPORTS

MHS Contemporaire tryouts will be held May 23rd, 24th and 26th. Anyone interested in trying out for the team should pick up a permission slip and tryout information from the athletic office.

 

All track girls who fail to turn in uniforms to Coach Bohnsack or Coach Woods by Monday will be on the list of students to NOT get yearbooks. Please get uniforms returned.

 

MISC

The Rock Island County Fair is looking for girls between the ages of 16-21 to compete for the Miss Rock Island County Fair Queen title. If you are interested, go to room B131 at 3:15 today. There will be a brief informational meeting.

 

Seniors: If you have not signed for your final transcript please see Mrs. Hastings in the Registrar's office. You will have to have a final transcript sent before starting college in the fall.  This is for ALL colleges.

 

With the end of the year quickly approaching, you are reminded that all lockers must be cleaned out by May 26th. Items left behind will be disposed of.

Any senior who has applied for the Cardio Vascular Scholarship should go see Mr. Bodeen to see about signing up for the test component as a part of the application process.

Attn Student Congress: There will be a meeting tonight at 6:30 in room D125.

 

The MHS Book Club will be having its end of the year meeting Tuesday during lunch in room E204. See you there!

 

Members of Encore! are reminded of your last meeting on Tuesday at 3:30.  

 

SPORTS

Attention all Bass Team members: You have a mandatory bass team meeting tomorrow morning at 7:40 in coach Albrecht's room, B322. Be prepared to report your weekend catch. You will also be going over your end of the year schedule as well as discussing the upcoming state tournament schedule. Breakfast pizza will be provided to all that attend.

Don't forget to buy your prom ticket before May 12th. The last day to get your ticket for $15 is Wednesday, May 11th. Also, all guest forms are due by Wednesday, May 11th. Guests will not be permitted into the dance without having this form completed BEFORE the dance.

 

There are still a number of PSAE prizes yet to be picked up. You have until the end of this week to claim your prizes. Make sure you check those lists posted by the drinking fountains!

Congratulations to our Moline High School Special Olympic team. Our 12 athletes brought home the following 22 medals:

Attention Spanish Club members -- attend the last meeting of the year today after school! We will have piñatas and a machete juggler.

 

COUNSELING CENTER

The Justin Sharp Memorial Scholarship is now available to current senior students.  Applicants must have a 3.25 GPA and have participated in school activities.  This scholarship is worth $1500 and applications may be picked up in the Counseling Office.  The due date is June 1, 2011.

 

SPORTS

Come support the girls soccer team tonight as they take on Rock Island for Senior Night! The game starts at 6:00 p.m.

The Authentic Voices group is meeting today in E204 during the following periods: sophomores and seniors are meeting this period, 3rd hour for freshmen, and 6th hour for juniors.

 

Attention Spanish Club members! Come to the last club meeting of the year on Friday, May 6th after school. You will have a piñata and watch a guest juggle machetes. Plan to attend!

 

The Kaleidoscript congratulates the following people for their contributions: Christina Nobiling – cover design, Austin Enburg, Shayn Lomba and Alayna – poetry, and Tyler George Barlow – short story. Winners can pick up their awards in room B209.

 

Have you noticed the price of gas is so high and the price of a Kaleidoscript is so low? Purchase a Kaleidoscript magazine for just $1.00 and you’ll get great writings and art from Moline students. You’ll also have a chance to win a $50 gift card to Southpark Mall. Books are on sale in B209 and in the cafeteria. The drawing for winners will take place May 15th, so hurry!

Congratulations to all the Academic Team members for their score on the Knowledge Master Open held in April. The Maroons placed fifth in Illinois and in the top 20 percent of teams across the country who competed. The team picnic will be on Tuesday, May 10 and mark the end of another successful year.  

 

Attention Student Congress: There will be a meeting tonight in D-125 at 6:30 p.m.

 

There is a Drama Club meeting tomorrow after school in room B214. See you there.

All those interested in joining Flag Corp for the 2011-2012 school year: the mandatory try-outs are Tuesday and Thursday this week from 3:30-4:30 outside of the band room. If you want to try out, you must attend both times. See you there!

Attention Cheerleaders: There is a meeting at 3:30 with the Varsity representative today. Please meet in the gymnastics room.

 

MISC

Any students interested in summer Driver Education should see their counselor as soon as possible. You must be 15 years old by May 30th to be eligible.

 

Prom tickets are now on sale at the bookstore. The theme is "Lights Out". Tickets are $15 each through May 11th. You must have one student ID per ticket or a guest form at the time of purchase. If you are planning on taking a guest that does not attend MHS, please make sure to get a guest form from the bookstore. The form needs to be filled out by the guest and their school. These forms need to be turned in to the bookstore by May 11th. You purchase your guest's ticket at the same time you turn in their form. Please remember that guests must bring their driver’s license or school ID with them to be admitted to the dance.

 

Senior Convocation is Monday, May 16th. Seniors will be allowed to pick up your pre-paid yearbook after the ceremony IF you wear your cap and gown, all fines and fees are paid and you have your student ID. Don't miss out on this opportunity to get your yearbook early.

 

Distribution for all other pre-paid yearbooks will be Tuesday May 17th.  Anyone who did not pre-pay for a yearbook will be able to purchase one in the bookstore beginning Wednesday, May 18th. Remember - all fines and fees must be paid prior to getting your yearbook.
