CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

Authentic Voices members are reminded of the meeting today during 6^th period. Come discover your “love language”.

Crime Stoppers will meet in room B152 after school today. See you there!

Attention Student Congress: The yearbook photo for Student Congress will be taken today right after school in room D-125.

Attention current senior members of National Honor Society:  There will be a picture for the yearbook on Friday, April 1st at 3:00 in the Aud. Lobby. This is the last chance to be in the yearbook for NHS.

Spanish Club will be bowling after school on Tuesday, April 5. See Mrs. Harwood in J326 for permission slips.

COUNSELING CENTER

The following scholarships are now available. Applications may be picked up in the Counseling Center:

 1.  Credit Professional International Scholarship (no set criteria)

1. National Society of Professional Engineers - Students must be planning on majoring in an engineering field.
2. QC Illini Club Scholarship - for students planning to attend Univ. of Illinois

If there are any students who wish to take an Advanced Placement Exam for which MHS does not offer the course, please sign up with Mrs. Ryser by Friday, April 1st.

SPORTS

There will be an informational meeting Monday, Apr. 4 in room J222 at 4:00 for all girls interested in trying out for cheerleading. If unable to attend, please have someone else provide you with information and permission forms gathered from this meeting.

Early morning off-season swim practice has been canceled. If you have questions see coach Ehlers. Any warm-ups not yet turned in need to be returned immediately.

MISC

An opportunity available to ALL MHS students: If you are interested in being a community volunteer on Sat. April 2^nd, please sign up in J307 by today after school. Volunteers will be working outside from 8 am until Noon. You have the option of working all or part of the shift. If you have any questions, stop by J307.

If you like live theatre then you should come to the One Act performances on this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Plus, the entry-fee is only $1 to see your peers' performances! Come one and come all to the Student-Directed One Acts!

Would you like to meet the world record holder of push-ups? Come meet John Morrow…the current Guinness World Record push-up champ. Also, you’ll have a chance to make a new record as part of a group – a group that does the most push-ups in an hour. Mr. Morrow will be here today at 3:10 in Mr. Mahieu’s room, J138. Please come be part of a world record and in helping QC charities while you do it!

All current junior Link Leaders must fill out a new application if interested in participating again. Applications are available in the counseling center, B115, J222, B208, and B316.

By popular demand, Chuck Norris has declared there will be another Dodgeball tournament. The date has been set for Tuesday, Apr. 5^th at 6:30 p.m. in the East Gym. The tournament is free and can accommodate 12 teams. Registration will be on a first come, first served basis for these 12 teams. Turn your rosters in to the bookstore to reserve your spot!

1)      The Association of Illinois Township Committees Scholarship. Students must have a 3.0 GPA and major in a social science field of study (due 5/27). 

2)       The Progressive Baptist Church is now offering a $1200 to graduating seniors. Due 5/15

This is a reminder that there are over 10 local scholarships available ONLY to Moline High School students. The due date for these local scholarships is April 15th. Visit the counseling website to download an application or see Mr. Bodeen for more information.

A reminder that the lunch pin number system has changed slightly. Students are now required to have a 6 digit pin number. To do this, simply add zero’s in front of your current pin # to make your pin 6 digits.

By popular demand, Chuck Norris has declared there will be another Dodgeball tournament. The date has been set for Tuesday, Apr. 5^th at 6:30 p.m. in the East Gym. The tournament is free and can accommodate 12 teams. Registration will be on a first come, first served basis for these 12 teams. Turn your rosters in to the bookstore to reserve your spot!

This is a reminder of the Taco Tuesday benefit for Mr. Butterfield tonight at Mulligan’s in Coal Valley. The dinner will run from 5-9:00 p.m. We hope to see you there! (All Academic Team members who are helping with the Butterfield fundraiser this evening should check with Mr. Pitz sometime today).

COUNSELING CENTER

The deadline for the Girl Scout's Young Achievement Scholarship has been extended until March 25. Honorees are young women who have shown outstanding academic achievement, excellence in leadership, and a commitment to our community through service activities.  Applicants do NOT need to be a girl scout. This scholarship is worth up to $6000.  Applications may be downloaded from the counseling website.

Dad’s Club softball forms are now available in the main office or in the athletic office.

Any student interested in being inducted into the International Thespian Society should pick up point forms in Mrs. Griesenbeck's room, B214, before you leave for break. Point forms are due back to Mrs. Griesenbeck on or before April 15th, Tax Day!

Stage crew for Bye Bye Birdie will begin today at 3:30 and last until 7:30. You will meet again on Saturday, 9:00 - 2:00. Report to the stage, bring work gloves, and be ready to paint if needed.

Any student interested in being inducted into the International Thespian Society should pick up point forms in Mrs. Griesenbeck's room, B214, before you leave for break. Point forms are due back to Mrs. Griesenbeck on or before April 15th, Tax Day!

Students who are interested in attending Trinity Hospital's Mini Med School should stop by the Counseling Center and see Mr. Bodeen for an application.  Moline High School is allowed 12 spots for this new opportunity.

7th Period Sounds tickets are still on sale at the bookstore for $3. The show is this Friday during 7th period. You must get your 7th period teacher to sign the ticket, then you will present it on your way into the Aud on Friday. During the show, some students will be selected to do “Minute to Win it” games. If you'd like to put your name in the drawing come to J307 by Thursday after school. You'll have to buy a ticket and be present at the 7th pd sounds in order to participate.

PE no-dress is this Friday! Tickets are $1 and are available at the bookstore. Students have to participate in PE but don't have to dress. Proceeds will go to the United Way foundation.

Seniors: Graduation announcements are being distributed in the AUD lobby all day today. Please stop by and pick yours up.

Congratulations to the new junior and senior members of National Honor Society to be inducted on April 19th. The lists of new inductees are posted on the E-Wing 1st floor showcase and outside the counseling center.

Authentic Voices members: Get those pretty smiles ready! You’ll be having your yearbook photo taken Wednesday during period 2. Check in with your period 2 teacher, then quickly head to the AUD. After the photo, the donation of the flowergram fundraiser will be presented to the Domestic Violence Shelter representative.

Link Crew applications will be available starting Monday, March 14^th and are due back on Friday, Apr. 1^st. COUNSELING CENTER

Royal Neighbors Young Achievement Program is now being offered to women from the ages of 17-23. Honorees selected will be eligible to apply for one of two $2500 scholarships. Applications are available on the Counseling Website, with a due date of March 18.

WQPT is offering students a $500 scholarship who plan on pursuing a degree in broadcast journalism.  Applications may be picked up in the Counseling Center.
