CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

Congratulations to the Academic Team for placing 8th out of the teams from Illinois who competed in the Knowledge Master Open last week.

Authentic Voices members are invited to the Holiday Tea in B131 today during lunch. Come have cookies and punch and wish everyone a happy holiday and congratulate the early graduates!

The MHS Book Club will meet today during your lunch in the Media Center. Hope to see you there!

There will be a Line O’ Type meeting right after school today in Mrs. Blackall’s room (B201) to plan the January issue. All editors and interested reporters should plan to attend.

The German Club will hold its Christmas party this afternoon starting at 3:05 in J-333.

There is an Upward Bound study session today after school. Hope you can make it!

The Drama Club will meet today after school. Just a reminder that today’s drama club meeting is the Christma-hana-kwanza-kaa celebration in E204. Seniors bring sweets, juniors bring salty/savory snacks, sophomores bring drinks, and freshmen bring cups/plates/utensils. It should be a really fun time! See you there!

COUNSELING CENTER

The Moline Foundation has now announced the 5 scholarships available to senior students. All scholarships have a due date of February 15, 2011 and applications may be picked up in the counseling center with Mr. Bodeen. Amounts on all scholarships vary, and a complete description of each scholarship may be found on the counseling website.

There will be no Student Congress meeting today. The next meeting will be Tuesday, January 4th at 6:30 p.m.

COUNSELING CENTER

Any Senior student planning to major in science or engineering and attending either Iowa State University, University of Illinois at Champaign, University of Illinois at Chicago or University of Iowa can apply for the Quad City Engineering and Science Council Scholarship which is worth between $1000 and $3000. Applications may be picked up in the Counseling Center, or by downloading an application on the Counseling Webpage.

Key Club is back in session! We are going to have a guest speaker this Thursday from the American Cancer Society. If you would like to help in fundraising for this organization please come to E 204 after school to hear her presentation. Hope to see everyone on Thursday in E 204!

COUNSELING CENTER

The Illinois-Odd Fello-Rebekah Scholarship program is now available to senior students that are wishing to go onto school following graduation. Students must have maintained at least a C average throughout their high school career. Applications may be downloaded at:  www.ioof-il.org or by going to the counseling website.

On Saturday the Varsity Academic team took 4th place at the annual River City Classic in Peoria. The Fresh-Soph squad went 2-1 in the morning and narrowly missed qualifying for the afternoon rounds. Both teams are reminded to attend the KMO on Tuesday night from 6:30 to 8:30 in E-204. Drinks and snacks are provided! See Mr. Pitz if you have questions.  

Young Life will meet tonight at 7:20 p.m. to go to Bettendorf for all-area club. Everyone is welcome.
