CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

If you are interested in the Debate Team, please come to a short informational meeting today at 3:05 in J209.

Upward Bound will meet today in J222 from 3:00-5:00 pm. Bring your homework!

National Honor Society members will meet on Wednesday, September 1st at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.  We will elect officers, pay dues, and sign up for committees and the field trip.

If you are interested in being a Line O’ Type reporter, please meet in B201 after school on Wednesday. Stories for the next issue will be discussed.

Key Club will have their first meeting of the year on Thursday Sept. 2nd. It will be after school in the cafeteria and last until about 3:40. Everyone who is interested in community service and specifically the Student Food Drive this fall, should attend. If you have any questions please go to J307.

Attn theatre kids! You will have your first drama club meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 7^th Drama Club is open to all students interested in theatre – on stage, back stage, acting, or technical – everyone is welcome. There are no dues or applications needed. All you need to do is show up! We hope to see all our old friends and meet some new ones. See you on the 7^th!

All Natural Helpers will be meeting in B131 during lunch today, so grab your lunch and come join us!

There will be a brief informational meeting in room J231 today after school for any student interested in joining the Gamer Club.

All cast members of the Fall Play, Taste of Sunrise, are reminded that the first rehearsal is today at 3:30 in the auditorium.

This is a reminder to Student Congress members that meetings are held Mondays at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. If you have any questions, see Mr. Carlough or a class officer.

There will be a brief informational meeting in room J231 on Monday after school for any student interested in joining the Gamer Club.

COUNSELING CENTER

National Honor Society members interested in running for office or chairperson should get a ballot in the counseling center and return it to Mrs. Ryser by 3:00 p.m. today. This is also a reminder of our annual meeting (which has been changed from next Tues.) to next Wed., 9/1 at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. You must be present at the meeting (again it’s next Wed) to vote and be elected as an officer.

SPORTS

This is a reminder to all students wanting to go to home sporting events/games: In order to get student prices, you must have your ID with you. If you have an activity ticket, you must present your ID to verify it is you.

Any past Key Club member who would like to be considered for an officer position needs to see Mrs. Davila in J307 by the end of the day today. If you have not been a member but would like to be a lead organizer in the Student Food Drive please stop by as well.

Any 2010 Link Leader who wants to continue on with our Leader Academy must complete the application form no later than 3 p.m. Friday. See Mrs. Sanders or Mrs. Sommers for the application.

The first intramural event is coming soon: See Mr. Thompson in D131 or Mr. Larson in J212 for mini-putt sign up forms. The forms and the $5 fee are due by Friday, Sept. 10^th. There will be both male and female divisions and prizes.

MISC

The bookstore would like to remind you to get parking tags if you haven’t already done so. The Moline Police department has begun ticketing. Also, the bookstore can take ID pictures for you if you still haven’t gotten yours for the current school year.

This is a reminder to use the aluminum can recycling bins. They have been set out and we encouraged you to use them. Thank you.

This year's "M" staff for sophomores, juniors, and seniors is now posted outside the publication's office.  Please come to our first meeting today in B206 right after school.  We want to get started early on this year's book, so please be there!

Any past Key Club member who would like to be considered for an officer position needs to see Mrs. Davila in J307 by Thursday. If you have not been a member but would like to be a lead organizer in the Student Food Drive please stop by as well.

Any junior or senior students interested in participating in the 49^th annual United States Senate Youth Program may stop in the counseling center for additional information.

Help raise money for freshman social activities by eating at Buffalo Wild Wings! Tickets are available in the main office and must be presented to the server. Ten percent of food sales will be donated back to the high school. The remaining designated nights for MHS are tonight, next Monday and Wednesday. We appreciate your support!

Please remember, you must have a parking tag to park in the lot. Do NOT drive to school unless you have purchased your tag. To get your tag: the parking tag form must be signed by a parent, you must show your driver’s license, and you must pay $20 for the tag. All fees must be current before you are allowed to purchase a tag. Also, tickets will be issued by the police department beginning this week.

If you don’t have your student I.D. for this year, please stop by the bookstore before or after school this week. If you plan to get in to Friday’s game, you will need it.

The Figge Art Museum is looking for high school students to lead tours and serve as gallery attendants at a variety of museum programs throughout the school year. The application deadline is August 30^th. See Mrs. Olson in the Counseling Center with any questions.

Attention students interested in taking Driver's Education 1st semester: The date has changed.  If you were born on or before June 15th, 1995 you are now eligible to take first semester Driver's Education. Availability is on a first come first served basis. If you are eligible, see your counselor right away.
