CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

A reminder to all those attending the drama banquet: Dinner starts at 6:00 p.m. tonight in the cafeteria!

All those interested in being in the cast for next year's Fall Play should audition on Tuesday or Wednesday from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.  Sign Up for auditions as soon as you can in B208.

Attention all Key Club members, please come celebrate a wonderful year of community service next Tuesday, May 18th after school in J307. We will have graduation cake and treats in order to wish our seniors well. Hope to see you all there!

COUNSELING CENTER

Attention all National Honor Society Members:  We need a much stronger response for Birdies for Charity to help the Griffith family fund future scholarships to our seniors. Please stop by the counseling center for a form today. Forms must be returned to Mrs. Ryser before you leave for the summer. Also, senior members need to write a thank you to the Griffith family for their scholarships. You may stop by the counseling center to get the address for Mrs. Griffith.

SPORTS

Contemporaire tryouts will be held May 25-27^th. Tuesday and Wednesday will be clinic days. The actual tryout will be on May 27^th. If you plan to try out, pick up a permission form in the Athletic Office.

MISC.

Yearbooks will be distributed in the library on Monday. If you have fines or fees, you won’t be able to pick yours up. Make sure all your fees are paid so you don’t have to wait in line more than once!

ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS:  Please make sure you turn in your textbooks to your teacher before your last day of school. DO NOT give your books to someone else to turn in or leave them on the teacher's desk. The only way to make sure you do not get charged for them is to personally hand them to your teacher!

All elevator keys must be returned to the clinic before leaving for the summer. Also, all medication must be picked up by a parent or guardian before the end of the school year or it will be discarded.

Seniors planning to attend college must sign for final transcripts. Do so in the registrar’s office.

The MHS Art staff would like to thank the student body, staff, and custodial staff for making this year's art show a huge success.  We especially want to thank the students for their cooperation and manners while viewing the show.  Congratulations to all students who displayed work.  You are why MHS is the number 1 art program in the Quad Cities and one of the top in the State of Illinois.  Everyone who attended the show said it was our best ever! Go Maroons!

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

The MHS Book Club will be meeting during lunch today in the Media Center. Join us if you can!

Today is the Drama Club meeting right after school in room B214. It is the last meeting of the year, so we hope to see you there!

There is an Upward Bound study session today after school in room B217. Hope you can make it!

Attn. next year’s Link Crew! ALL Link leaders for the 2010-2011 school year need to attend one session of May Development Days. Plan to be in the east gym today after school from 3:30-5:30, Wednesday from 5:00-7:00, or Thursday from 7:00-9:00. See Mrs. Sommers in B115 with any questions.

COUNSELING CENTER

There is a former student coming to speak to students who have questions about college. He’s a current student at University of Northern Iowa. If you’d like to meet with him to get your questions answered, see Mrs. Dexter in the counseling center.

SPORTS

There is a cheerleading clinic again today from 4-6:00 p.m. in the gymnastics room. Try-outs are Thursday beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Girls basketball open gym starts today at Coolidge from 6:30-8:00.

Contemporaire try-outs will be held May 25-27^th in the East Gym beginning at 3:30 p.m. The 25^th and 26^th will be clinic days, with the actual try-out day being Thursday, the 27^th. Please pick up a permission form in the athletic office.

Fall Play auditions will be held May 17th-19th.  Since it is unusual to audition for next year's play so early, we're going to talk about auditions, rehearsals, and other details about the play at a Theatre informational meeting!  Any students interested in auditioning or being on a crew for next year's fall play should come to an informational meeting about the play on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. in the Auditorium. 

Seniors planning to attend college in the fall need to sign for a final transcript. Parents cannot do this for you once you have graduated so stop in to see Mrs. Hastings right away. You don’t want to delay financial aid and registration for classes.

With the end of the year getting closer, we’d like to remind you to clean out your lockers by the last day of school. Any items left behind will be thrown away or donated.

All National Honor Society members make sure to pick up Birdies for Charity forms from Mrs. Ryser or Mrs. Dexter in the counseling center and return them before you leave for summer. 

All senior members of National Honor Society who received scholarships from the Griffith family must write thank you notes to Mrs. Griffith. Flyers with the address are available from Mrs. Ryser in the counseling center.

Congratulations to girls track for winning Conference over the weekend!

The names of the 2010-2011 Link Crew are posted outside the counseling center and next to the bookstore. Please stop by and check the list so you can plan for next week’s training.

Any senior football player interested in applying for the Don Shick Memorial  Football Scholarship should see Mrs. Dykema today. Applications are due May 14^th.

To all Authentic Voices members: Come to a real-life version of the book Guys Are Waffles/Girls Are Spaghetti when a panel of 5 senior boys and 5 senior girls will answer a series of questions about relationships and life. Could be interesting!!! The meeting will be today during 6^th period in the auditorium.

Today is the Drama Club meeting. Go to room B214 right after school. See you there!

All Academic Team members are reminded of the team picnic, starting around 5:45 today at Riverside Park. Enter off 34th Street. See you all there!

Kaleidoscript members are invited to come Thursday after school for cookies and Kaleidoscripts. The books are ready for you to sell.

Don’t get left out! Prom is Saturday, May 8^th. A limited number of tickets are on sale at the Bookstore for $15 through May 5^th. They will go up to $20 on Thursday, May 6^th. You must have one school ID for each ticket purchased or turn a guest form in at the time of purchase.

A big Congratulations goes out to students in the Moline HS industrial Technology department for their first place finishes at the WIU Engineering and Technology Exhibit last week. Fifty five MHS students entered projects winning the level two and level three all-schools divisions. Three Moline students earned certificates of excellence: Ben Wolfe for Computer Architecture, Christian Slagel for Board Architecture and Andy Wright for Machining.

Students who signed up for summer Driver Education are reminded that full payment is due right away. If you have a balance, please stop by the bookstore to pay it right away.
