Congratulations to the members of Encore!, Moline High School's Acting troupe, on their success at the Plainfield North Tournament. Special recognition goes to Jens Hurty: 6th place in Radio Speaking, Mercedes Padro: 4th Place in Prose Reading, and Autumn Loose: 3rd place in Original Comedy.

 

There is a Crime Stoppers meeting today at 3:05 in B152. We will nominate board members.

 

Today is the Drama Club meeting. Go to B214 right after. See you there!

 

MISC

Come one, come all to the 2009 Share Joys Donut Eating Contest tomorrow at 7:00 A.M. in the East Gym. Who will be the next Donut King or Queen? Come see donuts disappear before your eyes!

 

Buy your Share Joys tickets at the bookstore today to avoid long lines the week of November 30th--December 4th.  What can these tickets buy you ask?  hey can buy: puppy chow and other baked goods from Share Joys elves, burgers on the patio and Whitey's ice cream during lunch, great activities the staff has planned, and student raffle tickets. In the raffle you could win a Wii gaming system or one of 5 $20.00 gift certificates to Michael's Fun World, Mp3 players and other cool stuff! 

 

Students: Don’t forget to buy your Jingle Jam tickets. You won’t want to miss this dance! Buy your tickets at the book store for $15. Remember to take a school or state ID with you for admittance to the dance on Wednesday night.

Young Life will meet tonight at Fireworks Coffee Shop at 7:30 (16th St. & Ave of the Cities). There will be a free concert for high school students. All students are welcome!

 

Key Club will be selling clearanced Hunger Drive t-shirts during lunch this week. The t-shirts are only $6.00...so get them while they last!

Anyone interested in learning Improv games for Share Joys should come to the Aud. lobby today after school. We'll learn the rules for Improv games as well as techniques for improving your improv abilities.

SPORTS

To all students who intend to swim this winter season: There will be a brief mandatory meeting after school today. The meeting will be held at the pool. See Mr. Ehlers if you are unable to attend.

 

COUNSELING CENTER

Juniors: Those of you in the top fifth of your class who have also demonstrated leadership potential are invited to get information about West Point’s leadership seminar. Please see Mr. Woods if interested.

 

MISC

Anyone interested in learning Improv games for this year's Share Joys should meet Thursday after school in the Aud. Lobby. You will learn various games plus methods in improving your improv skills. See you Thursday.

 

Students – we have an urgent need for 13 more donut eating teams! The contest is in two weeks! If you can help, please see Mrs. Ryser in the counseling center today!

 

Thanksgiving is coming up, but before you stuff your faces, don’t forget about dancing your socks off at Jingle Jam! This year’s holiday bash will be at the new Waterfront Convention Center on Wednesday, November 25th from 8:00 pm to 11:30 pm. You can get your tickets for $15 at the bookstore beginning Monday, November 16th or visit www.quadcityarts.com.  Be sure to bring a school ID and/or license or you wont’ be allowed to join the fun. COUNSELING CENTER

The Figge Art Museum is hosting a conference tomorrow night to identify ways in which students can volunteer to give back to the community. If you are interested, see Mrs. Dexter in the counseling office.

 

SPORTS

Anyone interested in becoming a student manager for the boys’ basketball team this upcoming season should see Mr. Lindauer in the east gym as soon as possible.

 

Try outs for sophomore boys’ basketball will be held next Monday & Tuesday at 3:30 in the west gym.

Those interested in auditioning for the Winter Play, William Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors, should come to room B208 to sign-up. Auditions are Thursday after school from 3:15-4:30. If necessary, callbacks will be held on Friday. 

 

The Physical Education Department is looking for certified lifeguards. If you are currently certified, please see any 11th or 12th grade P.E. teacher.
