The last Authentic Voices meeting of the year is today (this period), period 3 or period 5 in E204. We’re looking forward to seeing you there!

All Kaleidoscript sellers are reminded to bring money to B209 today and to pick up more books to sell. Everybody else is encouraged to buy a book! It’s worth it for the chance to win a new camera!

This is a reminder of the Cancer Awareness Walk after dismissal today. Show your support and join the walk!

NHS members are reminded to pick up Birdies for Charity forms and return them to Mrs. Ryser before you leave school for the summer.

Senior NHS members: Don’t forget to send your thank you notes for your scholarships to Mrs. Harold P. Griffith (4733- 19^th Ave. Moline). If you need a note with the address written down, stop in the counseling center.

SPORTS

Football open gym will be held at the Coolidge football field on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-5:00 p.m. See Coach Ryser with questions.

A mandatory meeting for all boys track athletes will be held after school Thursday in room E111. See Coach Taylor or Coach Iles if you cannot attend.

MISC.

Anyone going on the Italy and Greece tour next summer needs to try to enroll by May 31st.
If you are still planning to go and have not enrolled yet, please stop by Mrs. Shelton's room E-208 and let her know.

ALL lockers must be cleaned out by June 9^th. Anything left in lockers will be donated or thrown away. Trash cans have been placed in the hallways for convenience in cleaning out your lockers. Thank you!

Also to seniors- Please see Mrs. Hastings to have your final transcripts sent. Parents can not do this for you next Fall. ALL COLLEGES REQUIRE A FINAL TRANSCRIPT.

Get this great magazine and just show the number to claim one of 13 prizes. Kaleidoscripts are on sale from Kaleidoscript members, from English teachers, or in room B209.

Attention Spanish Club Members! Join us today after school for the last event of the year. We' will play ultimate frisbee and have a picnic. Hasta la vista!

Next week is Cancer Awareness Week at MHS. Key Club will be selling t-shirts, Whitey’s ice cream, and suckers during lunch. Bring extra money to support the American Cancer Society. We are also going to have a short walk from here to 41^st, behind the building, and back up 34^th St. on Wednesday after early release. Please join us!

SPORTS

Volleyball open gym will be held today after school at Coolidge from 3:30-5:00 pm. Next week’s Open gym days will be Monday and Wednesday at Coolidge. See Coach Albrecht if you cannot attend.

Don’t forget Contemporaire tryouts begin next Tuesday. Get a permission form from the Athletic Office if interested.

COUNSELING CENTER

Want a summer job? Riverbend Animal Clinic will need someone to work for them. You must be 16 years of age to qualify.

Congratulations to all NHS members on a great induction ceremony! This Friday is NHS day at MHS! All staff and students who are members of National Honor Society should wear their pins.

NHS students going to Great America can pick up an information sheet in the counseling center. The bus leaves Monday, May 25^th at 6:15 a.m.

MISC.

The Final 7th PERIOD SOUNDS will be on Friday, May 29th. AUDITIONS will be this FRIDAY after school in the choir room. Please stop by the music office and get an audition form prior to the audition.

All musical acts are encouraged to audition. We need variety and diversity in the musical styles to represent ALL of MHS. Don't pass up your last chance of this year!!  See Mr. May if you have any questions.

All elevator keys must be turned in to the clinic before leaving school for the summer. Also, all medications must be picked up by a parent or guardian by the end of school. All medications not picked up will be discarded.

Attn all juniors and seniors in National Honor Society: Induction practice is Tuesday, May 19^th in the Auditorium. Juniors will practice period 1 and seniors will practice period 2. NHS Induction will take place that same night (May 19^th) at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. It is mandatory for all members.

Any student whose parent missed the Italy Greece Parent meeting and are interested in attending the trip, please stop by Mrs. Shelton room E-208 to pick up some materials today.

There will be a Key Club meeting on Thursday in J 307. We will be making posters this week.

Authentic Voices members are invited to the next meeting to learn about the media and it’s effect on our thoughts, attitudes and actions. We will watch and discuss the video Killing Me Softly on Thursday, May 14^th. You may come either period 2 OR 3 in E204.

To all seniors who have not filled out the senior survey: Please pick up a survey in the publications office today. Surveys are due Friday, the 15^th!

MISC.

Pre-paid yearbooks will be distributed in the library on May 27^th. All fines and fees must be paid before you pick up your yearbook and you MUST HAVE YOUR STUDENT ID.

Anyone interested in attending the Drama Banquet May 22nd needs to get a ticket order form from Mr. Thomas or Mrs. Griesenbeck A.S.A.P. Tickets are $5 per person for a catered meal from Grinders.

SPORTS

MHS Contemporaires tryouts will begin on Tuesday the 26^th at 4 p.m. in the East Gym. Tuesday and Wednesday will be clinic days (learning dance routines and techniques). Actual tryouts will be held Thursday the 28^th. All girls wanting to try out MUST turn in a permission slip and two teacher recommendations on the first day of tryouts. Stop in the Athletic Office to get your permission form.

MISC.

Doodle for Google has announced the state finalist for the “Doodle for Google” contest. MHS’s very own James Lee is among the winners. Congratulations James!!!

MHS Dad’s Club softball has many openings for freshmen players. If interested, stop by the main office to get information. They need to hear from you by Tuesday, so don’t delay!

This is an important message for students who have signed up for summer Driver Education and have NOT YET PAID: All money for the class is due by Friday, May 22^nd. If you have not paid by that time, you will be removed from the class.

The Parent meeting for the Italy-Greece trip will be on Tuesday, May 12th at 6:30pm in Room E-208. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Shelton.

COUNSELING CENTER

Want to make a difference? Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center is offering a unique opportunity for students age 16 & up. This program will help build your resume for work or college. The program offers flexible hours and monetary incentives. See Mrs. Dexter in the counseling office for details.

SPORTS

Attention all volleyball players: All those considering playing volleyball next fall should attend a short informational meeting for summer schedules. This meeting will be Tuesday before school at 7:50 a.m. or after school at 3:05 in Coach Albrecht’s room, B322.

Anyone interested in playing boys golf for Moline High School next fall will need to attend a meeting on Thursday after school at 3:15 in room J206.  See Coach Dillie if you have any questions.

Attention all football players: All those considering playing football next fall should attend a short informational meeting in J-110. This meeting will be Wednesday after school at 3:05 in Coach Ryser's room (J-110).

Support the MHS Bass Fishing Team as they go to State on Friday! Buy a t-shirt at the bookstore to show your support. The long sleeve t-shirts have been discounted to $8 and the regular t-shirts are only $6.

MISC.

Congratulations to our 8 Special Olympic Athletes who competed in Monmouth on Saturday. These MHS athletes brought home 6 gold medals, 4 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals. Make sure to congratulate our athletes that are sporting their medals. Four of these athletes will be competing in the State competition at Illinois State University in June.
