CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

Drama Club meets today after school from 3:10 to 3:40 in room E204.

Did you play football this year?  How about basketball?  Volleyball?  Tennis?  Do you consider yourself an athlete?  If you do, FCA is an organization for you!  Meet us tomorrow morning at 7:15 in the West Gym for a game of Dodgeball!  We provide the fun and the donuts!  See you there!

There will be an Interact meeting Thursday in room E-301 @ 3:10.  We will have pictures taken and information on the Rotary RYLA leadership camp. Also, there will be a discussion on our school and global projects.

COUNSELING CENTER

Seniors:  If your family would like to complete your FAFSA with the help of trained professionals, please attend Moline High School's FAFSA night, tonight from 3:30 to 7:30 in B218 and B220.  Grant money will run out before the end of February, so it is crucial that you complete this financial aid form ASAP. Please bring 2015 W-2 forms, financial records, and/or tax forms. For a list of helpful information to bring, please stop by the Counseling Center. Refreshments will be served courtesy of Quad City Scholars.

SPORTS

There will be a brief meeting Thursday after school in B152 for anyone interested in trying out for baseball.

Any girl not participating in a sport is invited to join the Girls Track and Field team.  Practices are Monday through Thursday, meeting in E-301 after school.  Please have a Physical turned in to the athletic office and parent permission signed.

MISC

Please plan ahead to stay for extra help at After School Tutoring tomorrow.  Tutoring is available from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. in B325.  Take advantage of this opportunity to get assistance with your assignments.

The MHS food service committee meeting in the cafeteria after school has now been cancelled.

The Singles Awareness Day Party at the Moline Public Library on Thursday has been cancelled.

Seniors:  If your family would like to complete your FAFSA with the help of trained professionals, please attend Moline High School's FAFSA night, Tuesday, February 9th from 3:30 to 7:30 in B218 and B220.  Grant money will run out before the end of February, so it is crucial that you complete this financial aid form ASAP. Please bring 2015 W-2 forms, financial records, and/or tax forms. For a list of helpful information to bring, please stop by the Counseling Center. Refreshments will be served courtesy of Quad City Scholars.

SPORTS

All spring sports start February 29th.  Any student interested in trying out for a spring sport needs to have a physical, parent permission form on file in the Athletic Office.  See Mrs. Valladares in the Athletic Office with any questions.

MISC

If you have not purchased this year's "M" yet, the final date for yearbook sales is Friday, February 12th.  Please take $52.00 to the Book Store and order your copy before it is too late. Unlike previous years, no books will be sold in May.

The Moline Public Library is hosting a Single’s Awareness Day Party this Thursday at 6:00. Enjoy a variety of crafts, games, activities, and lots of chocolate! Advanced registration is required.

The Gay Straight Alliance will meet in the Media Center after school today. Old and new members are welcome!

Attention Bible Study Members: Today after school, we will be having our yearbook picture.  Please meet promptly at 3:10 for our picture.  We will meet in J227 and stay until 3:40.  All are invited to be a member of this student-led group.

There will be a Student Congress meeting Monday Feb. 8 at 7:30 in J212. Blood drive worker sign-ups will be one of the agenda items for this meeting.

COUNSELING CENTER

The Moline Foundation is now offering over 15 scholarships exclusive to Moline High School seniors only.  Over $45,000 worth of scholarships are available this year through this organization.  Apply online via the Counseling Website.  The due date for all of these scholarships is March 16, 2016.

The MHS Ellen Roys PTSA Scholarship is now available for MHS senior students only.  Three scholarships will be given from this organization.  Applications may be downloaded from the counseling website.  The due date for this scholarship is April 4.

The SOAR Scholarship is now open to graduating seniors.  Interested applicants can obtain a copy of the application from the counseling website.  This scholarship has a due date of April 24, 2016.

The following scholarships are now available to graduating senior students.  Applications may be found on the counseling website.  The scholarships are as follows:

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers Scholarship - due April 15

The National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Scholarship - due February 28

The Illinois Athletic Directors Association John Van Fleet Scholarship - due February 29

The Rock Island County Farm Bureau Scholarship - due March 25

The Illinois Iowa American Chemical Society is now offering the Donald Kiser Scholarship.  Applicants must be pursuing a degree in chemistry, biochemistry or engineering.  Applicants may download a copy of the application from the Counseling Website.  This scholarship has a due date of March 31, 2016.

Reminder:  Night School PE starts today at 3:10 p.m.  Students need to report to computer lab B226.

It's not too late to sign up for Night School!  If you've failed a PE or math class, see your counselor today!  It is a great opportunity to earn essential credits for graduation.

A great job to the MHS Special Olympics basketball team for representing Moline so well at the Augustana Woman's basketball game during halftime on Saturday night.  A HUGE thank you to Noah Christopher, Kier Cook and Adrien Reese from Sports Unlimited.  They volunteered their time to help the team at this event. Thank you very much to everyone involved!

Congratulations to the Moline Academic Team!  The A Team (consisting of Divya Badri, Ila Mostafa, Adrian McDevitt, Shawn Wherry, Riya Jain, Omar Babu, Prachi Patel, and Connor Kvamme) came in 3rd of 20 teams in the scholastic bowl tournament at Rock Island last Saturday.
