Attention all Kaleidoscript members. Reminder: ALL lollipops and money must be turned in before leaving for break!  Also, those attending the Whitewater Creative Writing Conference must see Mrs. M for a permission slip today.

SPORTS

Moline High School volleyball teams are challenging all other MHS teams and clubs to pack the house at Wharton Field House on Saturday from 11:00 to 1:00 for the Dig Teal Event.  Whichever group is the loudest will win a traveling trophy, bragging rights, and a pizza party courtesy of the volleyball teams. Please come dressed in teal and we will see you on Saturday!

Reminder to all students attending sporting events: No bags/backpack, or outside food and drinks are allowed into the game.  All students must have their ID to enter with their athletic pass or purchase a ticket at student price. Once you leave the game you cannot return.  Please make sure you have coats, blankets and etc. before entering.

MISC

Calling all musicians, actors, and otherwise talented students! Auditions for the Share Joys Talent Show will be held on November 13th after school in the auditorium. Show us what Moline High School is made of! Sign up for your audition time outside of E208, starting on November 3rd.

Sign up TODAY for an audition appointment for the Winter Play, "Figments." Sign-up sheets are on the Drama Board across the hall from the Library. Don’t delay or all the good spots will be taken.

Homecoming Pictures are available for pick up in the main office.  They can be picked up before or after school or during lunch.

The Visual Art staff would like to thank the restaurants, administration, teachers, custodial staff, Interact Club, Art Club, pottery students, community members, cross country team, and other students who made the Empty Bowls event a success last night.  We made over $4000 for the Student Hunger Drive.

Thank you again to everyone involved and to the Visual Art Department for your leadership with this activity.

There will be a mandatory girls’ basketball meeting, for any girl interested in trying out for any of the teams this year, at 3:35 today in the east gym.  This meeting will be for any and all girls interested and not currently in a fall sport.

Any girl interested in playing Spring Soccer needs to attend a brief informational meeting on Wednesday after school at 3:05 in room C125 (Choir room).

The Moline Public Library’s Anime Club will meet tonight from 3:30 to 5:30. Fans of anime, manga, and all things Japanese are invited to drop in. No registration needed.

Congratulations to the Powder puff players.  In a very competitive competition last night the sophomore team beat the freshmen and the senior team defeated the juniors.  The Hunger drive raised almost $500 and a truck load of food.  Thank you to all that participated or donated!  Also, there is a limited number of Powder puff shirts still available, please see Mr. Lindstrom.

Wednesday is the last day for the 2nd hour cans competition.  You can be the difference in your class winning a pizza party!  The hunger drive can still collect cans, but Wednesday will be the last day for the competition!

The Powder Puff game will be tonight at 6:00 P.M. at Browning Field. The cost of admission is $5.00 per person or 5 cans or $10.00 per family or 10 cans.

Powder Puff players who have paid for their t-shirts may pick them up until Period 3 in E314, after Period 3, in Room J128.

All Powder Puff players HAVE TO HAVE your Parent Permission slips turned in today or you cannot play.

There will be a Crime Stoppers meeting tomorrow in Mrs. Mahieu's room C123 at 3:05. Crime Stoppers T-shirt money needs to be turned in ASAP before Tuesday’s meeting.

The Better Business Bureau is now offering a $2500 scholarship to graduating seniors.  The due date is December 5 and the application can be found on the Counseling website.

This is a reminder to any student that volunteered to work at the Logan Carnival this evening. There are still spots available for those who are interested.  Please see Mrs. Thompson in the Counseling Center.

Any student interested in volunteering for the Willard School Carnival on October 21st from 5:30 to 7:00 P.M., please see Mrs. Thompson in the Counseling Center.

Buy your tickets today for the play James and the Giant Peach in the Moline High School bookstore. Tickets are six dollars for students and eight dollars for adults. There will be a big crowd at the door, so be sure to get your tickets early.

Attention hungry students!  Don’t you just love breakfast pizza?   Make a difference in the Student Hunger drive competition and help your period 2 class win a breakfast party!  All you need to do is bring in lots of cans and non-perishable food items to your period 2 class.  Dried food goods earn 1 point per item, can food earns 2 points per item, and 32 oz. cans earn 4 points per item!  Your support in this worthwhile cause is much appreciated and you might just win the party too!

Just a reminder:  Today is the last day to purchase your yearbook for 50.00.

Are you going to the football game tonight?  Rocky has challenged us to a canned goods competition, winner take all.  Bring your canned goods to the football game tonight to stamp out hunger!  Be sure and tell them you are bringing cans for Moline!

If you’re looking for something to do after school, stop by the Moline Public Library on Wednesdays between 2:30 and 4:30 for TEEN-ucopia, a variety of video games, board games, and crafts. No sign-up is needed, just drop in and have some fun!

There will be an Intramural volleyball tournament tomorrow in the East Gym starting at 6:00 P.M.  The event is coed, so you need to have a minimum of one girl or boy on the six person team.  Sign-up sheets are available at the Bookstore.  There is no cost for the tournament.

Boys’ tennis meeting will be held in the cafeteria after school today.

Congratulations to our girls’ tennis team for winning the Western Big 6 Conference!

Any student who plans on participating in a winter sport (Basketball, Bowling, Swimming, and Wrestling) should check with the Athletic Office to make sure they have a signed Parent Permission Slip, updated Physical and an Athletic Ticket.  All three forms MUST be on file before you can try-out for a sport.
